Club Fbass (thread 13)

Is it my bad memory or did the Bass San Diego prices go up by $400 recently on the BN5?

My local dealer told me a few weeks ago that he was notified by FBass that there would be an increase in their prices in January. IIRC, the date of the increase would be January 11 (but I could be mistaken). However, I just checked the FBass website and their prices are the same. Maybe he was just trying to give me a little more motivation to pull the trigger on the BN4 I just purchased - not that I needed any. Perhaps BSD is getting ahead of the curve on any potential price jump.

For those who may not know, there is a short but interesting FBass poll happening in this thread on TB posted by ToleranceEJ.

Pickguard Recommendations for an F Bass VF6 in Lake Placid Blue
That’s an old 2017 post. I received that bass long ago. I went with Tort.

The strings that came stock on my 40th Anniversary were not exposed-core like on the BNs and were long overdue for a change. I think I read that they were DR Fat Beams, but the bass is now sporting lighter-gauge D'Addario NYXLs (45-100).

While swapping them out, one thing that came to my attention that I never noticed before .. F Basses don't have string trees at the headstock.

My worry with that is that I copy my last roster update to start my new one, and I wouldn't want to leave any out, nor would I want to hunt around to see if any partial updates happened since the last full update.

I'll give it some more thought, though and do some experimenting.

Good points. I'd suggest always having a link back to the last full post from each partial, and having the partials always be 'everying added since last full list', so you'd only ever have to look at two places for the full list.

Yep. Important to wind them down as low as possible on each post.

With the tilt back angle of the headstock doesn’t really need them.

I haven’t posted here in ages but thought I should share the great FBass I picked up from my buddy @bassballs27. Actually, I have had it for almost a year. Time flies!

This bass is a beast. Ash with maple top. Sounds killer but at 10lbs+ it isn’t a back killer with a comfort strap. It balances amazingly well. It is my go to gigging bass lately as it works so well with just about any type of music.

The flat (much differently contoured) maple top and maple binding is what sold me. I loved every FBass I have owned, but this one is so unique that I had to have it.

Doing great, man. Wassup?!?!

Just busy with work, kids and spending a lot of time at the cottage and doing a bunch of gigs.

Plus I went thru god knows how many basses over the years and am just loving my FBass, Fodera and Valenti. Add my Jule amp and Berg cabs, I just gave up on chasing a better tone. :hyper:

This bass truly is a tribute to George’s craftsmanship! Plays and sound great too! I’m glad this one is with a good person and home! And he’s local! Lol!
Who knows what trade we’ll be working out next!
