That’s a good video @monsterthompson, to me the maple seemed more scooped and the Mac Ebony had a little more top end. Both were good.

That recordings sound was in line with what I hear when I play my BN5 with Mac Ebony board.

I was trying to avoid listening with my eyes, which would favor the red & ebony, so I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who heard some differences.

what strings do you guys like using with your F bass or do you stick with the Labellas standard in the BN5? I know George and Marcel use the DR Fat-Beams on the deluxe and VF series and I love the DR's!

My stock set of F-bass exposed core strings had a weird warbly sound above the 12th fret (not uncommon and documented in this thread way back). I took them off and used other strings for a while.

I recently bought a new set from F-Bass - less warble, and IMO they do have something extra that works well with these basses. I'll probably keep using them, and I also put a set of super steps on my Pbass.
