I assumed they’re ebony, given the bridge option…not really sure what specific type wood. Ebony, Blackwood…only pretty sure they’re actual real (dark) wood

I think the Blackwood knobs vibe perfectly with the FBass design and aesthetic; they were kinda the icing on the cake. Boo to chrome.

I agree… I like that little extra touch. My MTD had the standard knobs… I’m trying to get some made from MTD to match.
let me know if you have a source. I seem to only find people that say yes I can do that and I say let’s do it and then nothing…
Thg knobs is recommended in the Roscoe posts, but he ain’t quick (which is fine by me, I’d rather have them done right than fast).
yeah, quick is not an adjective I would use. I’ve had experience in the past as well. I reached out and he replied sometime later. I think I’ve placed an order… I’m not even sure he’s working on it. I hope one day I’ll hear back with how much? Or, if he actually is working on it.
MTD replied and said they need to make more.
To be fair, I ordered some from another place a few years ago and was told a couple months. A year later after I gave up, the showed up one day with an apology note. They are pretty from the top, but unusable.
Anyway, maybe one day.
When I speced out my first Fbass, I knew very little about how they do things. Marcel suggested I go with chrome hardware and knobs. That sounded good to me so that's what I went with. I do love the black hardware and wood knobs for the blue BN5s,oh well.
By the time I got around to my third build, Marcel and I were working together to create a finish and bass they hadn't done before. When it came to the knobs he sent me pics of how it would look with ebony, or bloodwood knobs so I could choose my preference

They were so pleased with how it turned out they started to make BNs with this finish

I have a BN5 in Auburn Fade with an ebony board (and knobs!) that might be hitting the block soon, for no other reason than I have another ebony boarded BN5. Fbasses are the best, and their finishes are to die for.

I agree with Dave 100%. Wood knobs are part of a BN5's essence. Yes, metal or aluminum knobs look and work just fine, but as with all boutique instruments, there is something special about the small details with F Basses.
I know opinions vary, but it's hard to dispute that anything else looks anywhere near as good as either the blackwood or ebony knobs that F Bass have been installing as standard equipment for over 20 years on BNs, until now.

You probably want to check with Marcel at Fbass. Last time we talked the lead time was over a year. It may be less than that now..... Or it could be longer. Best to check with the source.
I agree with you guys as well. If I had a chance to do it over again, I would have definately ordered my BN5 with black hardware and Blackwood knobs. Live and learn right

My BN5 is a ‘99 with split P pickups under the normal humbucker shells, it was the first bass I had seen with wood knobs so I’ve always identified wood knobs with Fbass, I am curious what the warranty issues are, were some knobs cracking over time or something, after 22 years I’ve had no problems with mine.
