My BN5 is a ‘99 with split P pickups under the normal humbucker shells, it was the first bass I had seen with wood knobs so I’ve always identified wood knobs with Fbass, I am curious what the warranty issues are, were some knobs cracking over time or something, after 22 years I’ve had no problems with mine.
Marcel indicated that there is a grip concern for some, some split with use, and some ultimately just spun.
I’ve not experienced any of these things and I wouldn’t expect a warranty claim to resolve any of those issues, but that’s just me. It’s a wood knob…
Well! I traded with a TBer with a BN6. Everything was fine but wasn’t set up right. I did everything until I got to intonation adjustment and boom. Realized that on G & C strings the saddle won’t move enough back. Saw that they have used Longer intonation screws on these ones. One of them is buckled and the saddle screw thread is kind of stripped and the scree won’t go all the way. WD 40 didn’t help. and even a healthy saddle screw won’t go in now. So literally I’m bassless now
