I love F bass, so don’t take this as me ragging on them, as I think their basses are fantastic (former BN6 owner).
I prefer the older AC wood bridge and the one on the AC Classic over this one. To me, as soon as the metal saddle assemblies go on it would be better to just have the Hipshot A bridge. I’d be curious to hear an A/B comparison of this bridge with a Hipshot A, both with the RMC piezo saddles. It expect the tone difference from the bridge to be minimal.
I totally get wanting to have the adjustability that comes with a metal bridge and saddle assemblies. If that’s what’s needed, then use that kind of bridge. If we’re going for setting up the action height rarely and sticking with a fixed intonation point (perfectly find for fretless), then use the wood bridge with the fixed saddle.

I just don't get how some of the undisputably great basses like yours @maakim could be going through 5 owners in 6 years!
People don't know what they want and don't appreciate what they have really![]()

First time F Bass owner having recently acquired a BN5 fretless.
Hoping someone there can help with a string issue.
I was trying to change the strings and found that whoever put the strings on before me managed to get the ball end of the string caught on the washer that's in the hole on the underside of the bass. I assume the washer is a standard thing to protect the wood? Anyway, the washers on 3 of the 5 strings are 90º off from the angle they should be at, so they are "locking" the ball end, and it won't come out.
I tried a paper clip and a tiny screwdriver to try to dislodge either the washer or the ball end. Neither worked, and I don't want to damage the wood!
Has anyone had this happen before? Any tips on what to do would be much appreciated, as a have a new (to me) bass that can't be played! Thanks!
Yeah, that seems to be what happened. I've attached a drawing of what it looks like if you look straight into the hole from below. The hole seems to be just bored out wood with a washer floating around in it. Never seen anything like this. Can you post a picture? I think you're saying that it's locked inside the ferrule on the backside of the bass. Can you see a washer that's been added in there? The ferrules should just be one piece of metal without any washer inside. Is it possible the previous owner added washers into the ferrules for some reason?

I'm just trying to pull the washer out so the string won't be "trapped." Very little space to work when using a tool. I'm thinking a small crochet hook might be the only solution.Yeah, that seems to be what happened. I've attached a drawing of what it looks like if you look straight into the hole. Is it standard for these string holes to have washers in between the string and the wood?
Weird. I left them in for this set, but will probably take them out next time. Thanks.Im gonna go with no. I have 3 string through BN’s and no washers.
