those things are very cool and they’re another neat thing the F Bass crew are known for. here’s some pics of one I purchased directly from Dan Minton last spring, it was his own personal instrument and I feel very fortunate to have it. one of the benefits of living in the area. and it’s surprisingly heavy. 🙂

I have a F Bass VF4 PJ arriving tomorrow. Super stoked. I use the F bass strings with the exposed core. Do people use the F bass strings on the VF? I've seen them say DR Fat beams as well. I like the guage and feel of the F bass strings and was thinking of using them on the VF. Anyone else doing that or do people go for something that would suit a P bass.

I don’t have a VF, only a BN. I’ve mainly seen regular wraps on the VF series but occasionally see the exposed core strings. I have mixed feelings about the exposed core. I like a lot of what they offer but also gotten ones that warble a little depending on my technique (fingers vs pick). I’ve found tapered sets can be a decent compromise, and had good luck with SIT Power Wound.

I really like DR Pure Blues for a pbass sound.

Dreams come true people! (if you marry the right girl ;)
The VF PJ is the newbie and will flank my P basses with jazz necks. The dark red is a custom BN5 ordered to my specs. Highlights include 18mm spacing, 22 "frets," no side fret markers, and the pearloid maple leaf. The two fretted BN5s are pretty much standard specs. The iridescent mermaid finish and purple heart fingerboard are cool upgrades on the one BN5. It's also the lightest bass of the bunch which I like. The iridescent mermaid color also inspired the names of all my F basses. My wife said it looked like Ursula from the Little Mermaid so it stuck and started the theme. The fretless is Ariel, charcoal grey is King Trinton, and the newbie VF is Sebastien. To complete the gang I am going to order a custom aqua fade BN5 with 18mm spacing and a maple neck. Time to start saving. Can't believe it!! Thanks to the wife....its the 6th bass I bought in the last year. Can't resist the good deals.

Long time no talk, F Bass fam! Still loving my lefty passive PJ VF5 after all these years … I guess there’s not a lot to talk about when you’re totally content and gas-free. 😆

EDIT: Figuring out the photographer from that night must be using some AI for image processing. Excuse the wonkiness by the bridge pickup. 😵

A word of caution about this gorgeous Deluxe on Reverb. I saw it listed by a US seller recently along with a 4 string VF looking like they were photographed in the same corner of the same room. The Deluxe in the picture went offline and I assumed it sold. A day or two later it was listed by a seller in Oslo Norway for $4,000 with free shipping. The seller had almost no feedback (3 or 4 transactions rated). The listing used the exact same photos and same/similar text as the US listing. Today, this listing popped up for $4,000 again, with the exact same pictures, now in Switzerland with the exact same text saying “I bought this new from F Bass in 2023.” The price is almost too good to be true and I doubt this bass has changed hands this many times in a week. I think the original US listing was legit but the next two weren’t.
Happy to be proven wrong, but be careful out there.
