Just saw this on F Bass's Instagram... Very nice 🤩

I saw that as well, that's awesome! Love the old-school bridge, and the tort even though I'm not a "tort guy." That would fit right in on an alt-country gig. (My walnut-top BN6D is a bit conspicuous on such gigs, ha.)

I finally did something I’d been considering for a while. I swapped the D’Addario Nylons I had on my BNF to the BN Standard. First of all, the black strings look lovely on this bass. Second, they do sacrifice some of the BN signature sound and character, but the warm thump I’m getting is quite nice. Last, these strings feel fantastic and I find myself wanting to play them more than round wounds.

I recently picked up a T Rex Quint pedal for octave and 5th harmonies. I mainly got it to try with my bass vi, but I gave it a shot with the BN before and after the string swap. Through delay and reverb the Quint and the BN with the nylon/tape wound strings works much better. It’s not a BN sound, but I might have some ideas.

I don't know how it sounds, probably killer of course, but that is one gorgeous instrument!

Does this date mark with the initials GF mean the bass was built by George?

That bass was completed and final set up by George on Dec. 1st 1988. I don't believe that preamp however is from 1988. Looks like mid to late 90's to me. It may have been added later. I'm sure Marcel has a record of it and can tell you the story if you ask.

I did know the preamp was upgraded at some point in time by the owner before the last.

This is literally the best instrument I have ever owned and was just curious about the initials. Never planning to sell. In fact, I may not ever buy another bass that’s not an F Bass.

hi all, here’s a couple of great deals on F Basses for sale on Facebook Marketplace up here in Canada., I have no association with either seller but I thought I would pass them along. prices are in weak Canuckbucks. mods if this isn’t allowed please go ahead and remove the post.

Dang, that Jason Raso one…:drool::drool:

Anyone have any idea how tariffs work coming from Canada to the US on a used instrument?

At the risk of upsetting the mods, seeing as how this has been a touchy subject, look into the USMCA rules. There are/were certain exemptions. I’m sure Marcel might have some insight on the topic of shipping new instruments in the current environment, and that might have similar implications for used instruments. I suspect a big part of the issue is how paperwork gets filled out and processed. I’m no expert on the issue or the current rules in effect, but I read a little about the issue. There’s a brief blurb on the NAMM site regarding USMCA.
