Club Fbass (thread 13)

I'm wondering, could it be due to the density of ash (which contributes to the weight) that's helping to impart a better low end.
Because when i consider the opposite (lighter weight ash, less dense with more pockets in the wood), it does feel like the low mids are scooped out (which accentuates the high mids)
Thus making the sound somewhat clanky/harsh compared to the very punchy 70s/Marcus Miller kind of slap tone

Hello,

I read a few posts in this thread where someone spoke about "overtones" that happened with FBass Strings, especialy when playing high notes.
Someone can explain me what are these overtones ? Maybe with soundclips or exemples ?

I can't represent myself what it could sound like.

I'll try to remember to make a recording the next time I change my strings, but once the strings break in, it isn't as problematic.

New BN5 Update: Waiting for a delivery date, maybe late next week!

thats my biggest complaint with light ash. scooped out low mids. i think all those super light sadowsky's sound terrible.

Hi Fbass owners! Do you guys know someone in the Netherlands (/Holland) that owns a Fbass VF5?; I would love to try out one but they have no dealers here. On the Dutch bass forum I have had no succes. Thanks alot..

Playing on a '78 ash/maple jazz with sadowsky outboard DI for slap parts; want to switch (back) to 5 string and better playability and w/ a pre-amp. Don't want to buy a (very expensive) bass without playing on one before..

Thanks in advance,

Kasper
