Club Moollon

Just unboxed it! Wow, super light, very resonant, great low action and playability. Has these rounds with orange silks and is pretty bark-y. I'm sure I'll slap a set of Labella FL's on there soon, as my go to flats. (never had an issue with Labella, but I am remembering a flat wound B string that was wonky in the past, and Bob sent me a replacement expedited, no questions asked).

But I digress, the shop relic'd sea foam green is super lovely. I can tell I'll be ordering a tort guard before long though. :)

it may be, I'm no vintage fender color expert, and I'm mildly colorblind to boot. So I'd defer to anyone who knows better. its so pale, it looks almost white to my color challenged self.

Yeah, man.

Looks great. Love to hear a review at some point.

Colors are sometime hard to pin down with all the lighting issues that some of them can impart. My 2 cents would be Sonic Blue.

Definitely flats. :-)

Enjoy!!

What a cool video. I love the way Tim talks about the Moollon, as an instrument that is always giving him ideas and sparking creativity. Aint that what it's all about? For me anyways.

I kind of feel similarly about my Moolons. I've played fender style instruments that had better playability, but have never played anything that had as much vibe and mojo. There is definitely a component of sorcery/energy at work here.

Very much missing my moollons after seeing Tim’s vid.

My girlfriend and I were in New Orleans planning a move to Nashville when the storm hit so we had to evacuate. It was so quick I grabbed my upright gig bag and cat and ran out the door, leaving my 2 moollons and a few other basses in their hard cases elevated. Was just informed my place got power today, hoping they stayed decently safe in the heat. Super lucky to only be worrying about gear, but eager to head back into nola and get my basses. My P and J are calling me :)

Hope your place and your instruments fared OK.

Thanks for sharing! The way he runs his finger down the top of the neck as he says it’s an absolutely perfect bass… you know he loves it!

The Moollon P Classic IV is truly something special. Worth every penny and worth whatever the wait time is to get your hands on one!

Just got done cutting a record with Tim producing and had the privilege of using the Blackstar bass on one of the tracks. Used my Moollon and Serek Midwestern for everything else.

Anyone know what month of orders YJ is currently working on? Last I read it was Jan/Feb orders.
IIRC I finalized my order for a J-IV Classic in early June of 2020. I believe the wait-time back then was 10-12 months. How much do we all wish that was still the case. :(
I'm honestly OK waiting, this is just more of a general inquiry as to how things are going. Perhaps I will have a Merry Moollon Christmas?

Ordered mine in mid Feb 20 and still did not get it. So probably still working on these...

Wow. 3 years now?
Looks like too many people have caught on to how good they are.
Sometimes when people that were on the fence hear the longer wait times they realize something. All they need to do is afford the deposit for now and have all that much more time to save for the final cost. It'd be a tough idea but YJ could increase the deposit but more stress to knock out the builds would come with that.

@Bassic Needs I ordered early May 20 and still waiting as well. Andi told me 3-4 months in an email in April. I know YJ works in color batches so it could possibly depend on our color choices of what comes out sooner.

Luckily I already have a Moollon P-IV Classic so waiting for the J isn't too difficult.....other than the anticipation.
As long as it comes to me as awesome as my P, I don't care if it takes another 6-8 months.
