Refinished can be had for 7k or less. Its a lot I know but dude. So so so worth imo. Heres my 60 p I used to have.

In my opinion either scenario is worth it. I've done both. They also tend to hold their value or increase.
They can be rewound most of the time.
And I’ll take a refinished Fender for a lower price over an original for a crazy price. My refin 63 P is a beauty. The first Moollon I played reminded me of my 63 100%
In that situation, you just get it taken care of as I just did with my 68 Tele bass. I sent the pickup over to Jason Lollar, where it was rewound for a grand total of $150.00. Now it sounds as good as it looks.
I’d rather wait 3 years for a Moollon.
There was mention of desert sand a coupla pages back before the latest flurry of posts. Here’s my JV in desert sand. I’m pretty careful with my instruments but it’s starting to show some lovely patina. I’m no photog, pics from my phone. I also have a vintage J, my moollon does 94.3% of my gigs when I use a J (statistic approx). The JV is a great bass, two of my friends ordered the same model after playing mine. I look forward to another moollon one day, love everything YJ builds.

Finally got to play the new (to me) P in a rehearsal at volume. Punchy, bloomy, growly. It was divine to just sit on notes and let them envelope. Wow, I’m impressed. I’ve found my P bass.

I thought it was too high of a price. I think $3400-3550 is max for these on the used market with a somewhat desirable or unique color.
He’s a well known player who’s been around quite a while. It’s not that much over the norm. Now, if he ever sells his Wal MKii Fretless 5, I’ll happily find 10k that I hope is somewhere in my couch…in change.
Agree. I would overpay slightly to have a bass owned and taken good care of by someone like him.
I bought his B524 about 4-5 months ago. He texted me originally if I wanted to buy it but thought it was a little too much.
