This is really confusing to me. Was there a bass mentioned previously, or do you mean the company as a whole?

My Moollon arrived a week ago today. I wanted to spend some time with it to get to know it, and with two wildly differing gigs last weekend, it was a great opportunity to get acquainted with it. I'm going to get a bit in depth here, as there isn't really a whole ton of information on these, and to someone just browsing this thread, I want to give them as much info about the ordering process as I can.
Before sending Paypal and spec'ing out the bass, I had a 2 month back and forth with Andi Roslund, who serves as a sales rep to YJ. You have to keep in mind, that they are 13 hours ahead of you in Seoul, at least from EST. With that said, Andi responded thoroughly and promptly to all of my emails and answered all of my questions. I can't understate how amazing the customer service was. YJ even hunted down my preferred DR Legend flat wounds from his DR distributor, despite not even being available in South Korea, which is insanely above and beyond to me. I ordered and paid for the bass the last week of November, so turnaround time for a body color they didn't have in stock was a hair over 2 months. To my knowledge, the nitro finishing process is the most time consuming part of the build.
Thursday night I had a gig with a very loud drummer. I say this because at times I was having an issue w/ monitoring myself, but our singer who isn't into gear whatsoever commented on how "full" it sounded and said she was well supported, which is as much as you can ask for as a bassist. I brought my main bass of the last 10 years, a Fender CS jazz loaded with Lindy Fralin singles and I didn't touch it the whole night. I haven't had a p bass in a minute, and didn't know how the chunkier neck would play with my left hand, but made it through 3 sets with zero issues.
Friday I was playing with an acoustic trio (guitar, vocalist that plays tambourine/shakers/etc and myself) at a swanky bourbon bar. Considerably more quiet gig, and this is when I really fell in love with it. I could hear myself clearly, and this bass is SO responsive. On a jazz ballad, playing up on the fingerboard sounded incredible, just super warm and pillowy. I don't usually think of fingerboards as being very resonant, but the Macassar Ebony board is insane and very responsive to technique.
I recorded a quick clip w/ a drum loop in Garageband. Tone control is up around 70%, and I just went straight in via an Apogee One. No compression, EQ, or post production. If any of you guys want to hear different example or tone setting, let me know and I'll do my best to get something quickly for you. All I ask is you listen through headphones or decent speakers, and seeing as how the bass has flats on it, I won't do slap examples. Anything else is on the table though.
I hope this helps anyone considering a Moollon. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again, though my wallet currently is disagreeing with me at the moment. Don't hesitate to PM or ask a question on here.

I went for black with a tortoise pick guard which Andi confirmed was in stock so it should hopefully be ready to go in about 5 weeks. I almost went with green but that color didn't happen to be in stock so I decided on the black but I'm actually thinking about having a second one built since I really loved the Sherwood green color they offer but didn't have the patience to wait 12 weeks for my first one, lol.
Andi is so great to work with and he responded to all of my e-mails super quick so don't hesitate to send him a message. Also, a huge thank you to Joe Clark for giving me a ton of great information as well as putting me in contact with Andi. The wait begins....

Anyway, trying to figure out which Moollon to add next. Current gig (which I’ll be doing as long as they’ll have me) requires a 5 string.
The P5 intrigues me. Not a fan asthetically of the soap bar P and from the one NAMM video I saw I couldn’t duscern how P it was. Love to hear from anyone who might have one.
The B524 might be an option. Trying to find something w/ a lower fundamental than the JV. Wondering if some of the guys using these would compare em to the JV.
Also, the semi-hollow body Esperanza bass might be an option. Would go w/ fretted model. Like what I heard from Snarky Puppy dude on the YouTube video of the 4 string semihollowbody.
Andi mentioned of YJ possibly doing a PJ5 w/ the JV body style.

Regretfully trips to NAMM are a huge burden for us (finances in the red since 2002), so YJ decided to stay home and just work on Winter orders. Hopefully we'll be back someday
And I reckon my stab at humor may have gone a bit awry! Aye, 100% made in Seoul.
I've seen nearly a dozen Reverb ads where folks posting Moollon gear curiously end up checking DPRK instead of ROK (probably thinking that "Democratic" implies the South) as country of manufacturer, but suffice to say even the thought of an "early-production-era guitar and bass luthier working in an independent shop in North Korea and selling them to customers around the world" has no less than five impossibilities about it
For the record, there's just one shop in NW Seoul where instruments and the few remaining pedals are made (YJ's lacquer shack is close to the border in Paju, due to environmental laws regarding spraying of nitro), and that's that. BTW there is a fairly active bassist in (city withheld) whom we've never met who's strangely spread rumors on FB that Moollon are now made in China and said a few unsavory things to boot, but alas we had fellows at NAMM since the early 2000s heckling about and doing the same, so nothing's new, and we're not really affected.
On a related note...though this may disqualify Moollon as being a conventional "business" and rather one man's incredibly obsessive hobby: YJ's ultimate goal is not to sell lots of gear, but rather to make available the equivalent of vintage-voiced pieces to those that know and appreciate the difference and really need them, yet at an affordable cost. And he's also a really nice guy at that.
