Club Moollon

I think YJ offered the trus rod adjustment slot for awhile but no longer does.
I kinda like YJ making us work for it to adjust our necks. Just like Leo.

I’m sure a competent tech could notch one in.
I agree re: making us work for it :). An experienced tech/luthier can get to the truss rod without a notch, no problem. If you have the right tools and a proper workbench then it's a snap. After taking a setup class with my luthier I try to avoid tweaking my truss rod unless you have all the tools -- ruler, radius gauge, fret rocker, feeler gauges, etc.

Certainly personal taste. And there’s no right answer. Using La Bella Low Tension Flats on the G to E string and a La Bella Deep Talkin Bass on the low B. The 1.28 regular tension is great on the B.

When it comes to strings, gauges and brands, I feel each bass (brand/model) react differently to different brands and gauges of strings. My staring point is Hard Rockin Steels for rounds and Chromes for flats. Having said that, I have TI flats on a P bass, La Bella Hofner shotlrtscale flats on a violin bass, Cobalts on another etc., etc. The bass and my ears let me know.

My 2 cents...worth every penny.

Here’s a lengthy iPhone shot Motown thing with the PV w/ flats. There’s some upper register (Sir Duke) stuff later in the video.
Use headphones or inears.

4 Moollons, 4 different types of strings.

P IV - EB Cobalt Flats a little more top end (but not exactly bright) than most flats but still plenty of thump. Mids are where they shine which is really what a PBass is all about.
J IV - DR Pure Blues - my fav everyday round. More range and better feel than the Sunbeam that I used for years. About 1 year old and sound and feel perfect
J V - DAddario NYXL - Love these strings and work well with this bass - wish they were cheaper. Great compromise between nickel and stainless steel sound and feel
P V - LaBella DTF 760 FL- B - Man, I tried so many different strings on this bass - flats, rounds - including all the ones listed about plus some GHS. In fact I was very close to selling it cause I just find a set of strings and sound I liked. Shout out to my brother Kenny Ames for hipping me to the LaBellas. I had always thought they were too stiff but the FS gauge is perfect. Took a few gigs to break in but now they are just perfect on this bass.

IME, it pays (and costs!) to experiment but as Kenny says the bass will tell you what the right strings are for that instrument. I have 3 other basses and they all have different strings!
