My Moollon has arrived, and it is indeed unbelievable. My hat is off to the incredible talent in South Korea. I am extremely satisfied with this bass. Here is my thread:

No problem, really enjoyed the playing. If you have any tracks you played on with his bass that are online can you let us know? I'd love to hear more of it.
I took my Moollon in to get it setup today. It needed a tweak on the truss rod and since this is built like a 62 jazz, you have to take the neck off to twist the rod. Anyway, inside the pocket, the bass was signed by Young Joon Park and he also wrote my initials in it as well. It is always nice to have instrument that is built for you.
I will add that Fodera nickel strings sound unreal on this bass. They really smoke the DR Blues that shipped with it. I'd strongly suggest Foderas. Once the bass was set up, I went home and recorded with it. The tonal balance between each string and it's rich presence in the mix is just amazing.

I'm intrigued by these basses...
A question - does the classic j5 sound the same as the j4, or is there a difference? And, does he make a P5 or PJ5?

Sunny can answer the first question since he just got a J4 and has a 5. I do not think he makes a PJ5. He may make a P5 but Im not sure. I was told since these are all hand made, he makes only ~60 a year.
Smeet, good question but hard to answer. From outward appearances the pick ups are the same but since I just got the JIV they strings are new and not the same as the ones my former teacher put on the JV which I'm not sure which ones they are. They both have an excellent response rate when using the tuning controls for both pick ups and tone. The sound can be manipulated quite well. They definitely both have a growl but the JIV strings sound a bit "tinny" right now because they are new. The neck on the JV feels different it's a bit more of a P Bass shape in my opinion it's wide but thin not as much of a C shape as the IV. I really like the feel of that neck . It's more of a satin finish also. I think now that I got the JIV I may need to get the JV set up as the neck may not be completely straight. They are wonderful basses and that's coming from a beginner who doesn't deserve such good quality but loves toys. So I got them to motivate myself to do better.
On another topic, since I have peoples ears I would like to suggest checking out these cabinets, Acme Low B. I have one and I love the clean, dry sound. I brought it over to my former teacher and he immediately got interested in it. It's a boutique company much the same as Moollon. No I don't get any referral fees I just like to share my good fortune. When you call the company you can talk directly with the owner/designer. He's much more of an artist than a salesman. In fact, when I first called he told me he was too busy to ship me one so he's definitely not greed. Heres a link:

I brought it over to my former teacher and he immediately got interested in it. It's a boutique company much the same as Moollon. Yeah, go with what you like but I like 45-125 for mine. They are extremely well balanced and feel great.
It's pretty tough to find a demo of these basses honestly. The guys that have them usually don't sell them too often or they are touring with them. I believe the builder only makes around 60 a year since they are handmade.
So I got *lucky* and bought a Classic J5 from a TBer, and we had a nice meetup. It's definitely a very nice bass. The tone is very even all over the neck, and the B is nicely integrated with the rest of the strings. It's bright, but has a vintagey tone. The G string and higher notes in general are nice and thick, something that isn't always true on jazz basses. There's a slight dead spot around the 4th fret on the G string, but I wouldn't hesitate to use that note in a bass line, it still has punch.
I think I'm going to change the strings, it currently has brand new Stainless Dunlops on it, and they seem a bit clean and hifi for my taste. My current favorite strings are the Cobalt rounds. I'd like the bass to sound more aggressive, a bit more P-like in the mids, and I'm hoping the those will do the trick. The neck pickup is already more P-ish than other jazzes I've played, so this bass could give my Nordy P5 a run for the classic/hard rock stuff if it likes the Cobalts.
