It's a real plus for me that they don't. The neckplate on my fender sorta irritates my, er... ample tummy (sigh) when I've been playing a night's worth of songs. I try to adjust my stance, but, well... you know.

I only bought the Fender in the last year, so I'd not even thought to check on that when I went to the Sadowsky shop in July.

Regarding neckplates...

From THIS POST on March 24th of 2009...

We have eliminated the neck plates on all Sadowsky NYC instruments, including Ultra Vintage basses. It allows us to use a large radius on the edge of the heel of the body and is more comfortable against the hand in the upper register. We have also contoured the rear of the treble cutaway on all instruments as well. These are permanent changes and I will not be taking custom orders for 4 strings with neck plates or without the cutaway contour.

I probably used a neck plate on the first dozen narrow spaced 5 strings I made in 1990, but since then, none of the 5 strings have had neck plates.

I realized that even our Ultra Vintage style instruments will probably not appeal to a "vintage purist", so I might as well incorporate the changes I want in all of our guitars and basses. I am not making vintage Fender clones.

We have been very happy with our adoption of the Electrosocket, instead of the football jack plate. The look is cleaner, we use a special Switchcraft jack to make sure it extends enough to work with right angle plugs, and the jacks do not come loose.

That's awesome. I hope 2011 is very happy for everyone. And thanks again to Roger, Kevin, and the crew for making me so happy since I got my first Sadowsky in 2005. That quickly became my number one bass, and as of this year I've added two more number ones. :p (I won't spam you all with the picture again)

The football jack was fine, but the Electrosocket/Switchcraft jack is the best!

Also... thanks to Roger for using larger side dots on the neck. It's a small touch, but makes a big difference to me, because my busiest band has a crappy lightshow. It's probably because we play a lot of modern rock, but we're all in our 40's and 50's. :ninja:

Thanks Fran. Yeah- He IS our guy! I'm gonna have fun tracking this puppy. LOL. Brand new experience for me. I'll keep y'all posted on progress once it ships & I'll get some "carpet pics" up when it arrives.
Meanwhile here's a couple that Kevin sent to drive me crazy as I wait.

Love Blair's PJ!! It is so classic! You know, I am suddenly getting the "what if's" looking at all these great basses. Like what if I went PJ on my order. Yet, I recall the dicussion being thst it is a bit more scooped tone. Owning 2 Spectors, maybe I should stick to SC JJ.

You can always lose 1 of the Spectors.:D
Is there any way for you to audition a Metro alder/morado PJ in NO? Even if it's a P body, it'll still give you a pretty good idea what an alder/rw J body PJ would sound like. If you are going to order an NYC it would probably be wise to satisfy your curiosity about the PJ before hand. You already have a GREAT JJ. Maybe you could ask TBer "bikeplate" (Rob) about this. I sure can understand all the options you're tossing around & how important they are when placing a build order. All the best bro.
