Sweetheart? Now you're just getting mushy. I am just a good egg with a playful sense of humor. Hey, Roger offered 70% ! He stopped us while we were passing by a booth that he was at. Now he's got a fantastic sense of humor!

I am, of course, a big fan of what Roger's doing. Last year, I upgraded my AmDlx Fender PJ with Sadowsky pickups and pre - really made it come alive. Then, I went to Jay Street and tried out a Will Lee 4 (5575, I think), which absolutely blew me away. That day I had the opportunity to meet Roger, who was very nice and answered all of my questions - even though I wasn't buying anything beside some strings and guitar polish...

Anyway, I've enjoyed reading around on this list (I think I've read through all 20 parts) and others, but I didn't think that enthusiasm alone qualified me to join in. So, without further ado, I'd like to present M4801!

Everybody around here knows that my knees get weak when I see a nice piece of ash with the sweet tan that the vintage tint gives :)

Yes, I see that your basses are also vintage tint with maple necks, but with black pickguards - that's a sharp combo. Have you found the maple necks easy to maintain/keep clean? Have you noticed the maple darkening (overall) over time? Not sure if the NYC finish is different from the Metro finish...

Also... I see you use two DB112s. Before you bought those, did you AB them with the GS112s? I have two of the GSs, and like them a lot. People say they're mid-scooped, but they just sound clear to me with more bass than the 10s I was using before. Do you lift yours up off of the floor of the stage?

I use the cloth and everyday polish that Roger ships with his basses (IIRC only on NYCs). you can buy them from the online store. Thuth be told, I don't clean the necks very often as I like the nitro to wear and get darker. If you always clean it after playing and you keep the bass in its case when not in use you'll manage to keep it clearer, but I'm afraid that the nature of nitro finish is that it darken over time.

Regarding the cabs, I previously had a GS112 and I always liked it, never found it scoop as others say; I bought the DBs because I found a nice deal when in fact, I was looking for a second GS112. It was a very nice deal and I'm not a fun of the rat fur covering on the GS112. I sold the GS before I got the DBs, so I never had a chance to A/B 'em side by side, but both of them had a very pleasing tone.

I don't lift them. They usually go on the floor and I try to eq it to my liking depending on the venue.

I thought i should share this!
I got some live recordings with my sadowsky MS5 today.
And i was really impressed (Again) with the sound... I went straight from "Jaco sound" to a pretty smooth sound on some songs... heres a sample

Fran - I have the Everyday Polish so I'll be using that...mostly on the back of the neck... It's not a problem at all if the neck gets a bit darker over time. I was just wondering if it would. Thanks for the info!

I'm also not a huge fan of the fuzzy/furry carpet on the GSs but it's fine. I've been very happy with mine so far. I'm running them with an AG500 which sounds fantastic. It's a big sound, and I love how easy the rig is to carry. I used to have a 4x10 and 70s Ampeg, so I appreciate the difference in size/weight!

No more big cabs for me. I'd love to gig with a 4x12 or even maybe a 2x15, but I don't really need them and I'm sure I'd get tired of carry them around...if Aguilar releases a 1x15 n the new SL series and they sound as good to me as my current setup, then I might be in trouble. ;)
