This has been adressed a few times.
I had a modern where I replaced the original PUs with BS.
The BS sound more organic (less polite), more vintage.
The mids are rawer.
Overdrive sound better with the BS.

As overall comment, I would qualify them as more rock oriented.

I don't know that I was surprised as much as I was interested that my experiences go against a bit of my pre-conceived convention of the modern and its associations with certain styles. So many make the point that the V basses are so versatile, and so I wanted to make the point the M24s are equally so.

We really need to have another GTG. I know that all of us have a different opinion of what makes the perfect "big, round bottom" (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more) but I am just not getting this. The deeper, extended more powerful, present low-end response is exactly why I prefer my modern so much. It is far superior in that respect, IMO, than any of the the three V style Sadowskys I have owned. I'd love to get all of these basses in one room and flesh it out.

I'll buy that. You can solo it and roll back the VTC a bit and cop a very respectable old school P tone. Although, my modern shares a character with the natural Q5 that I owned in that my favorite setting, by far, is simply everything in neutral. It absolutely has that plug-n-play vibe.

I am also pretty seriously considering an order. If I do, it will likely be just as you suggest. I will very likely ask Roger and Co. to look up my existing modern and spec the bass exactly the same except the PU config. I'd REALLY love to even do the amboyna top and BrRW FB so as to have "twinsies" except for the PUs. But, I think that would probably be cost prohibitive for me.

I may do big singles for the SCs though, so it still has a bit more modern look. But, I would want the neck PU forward of the conventional modern position for a more traditional tone.

At least one notch. For me, I think it is a combination of the neck profile and the very light weight. I can play that thing forever and not even begin to tire. The Dingwall I flirted with was a bit like that, but this Sadowsky is even more so.

Definitely! I really want to hear this bass of yours. It sounds like it does something mine, and all the other Modern style Sadowsky basses I've played have never had.
