I really dig L2500s a lot. I had one many moons ago. Apart from the look of it and the fact that it weighed about 12 lbs, I loved it.

Same as on a JJ. Alder/rw is gonna' have a bit more going on in the low end, a slightly bigger warmer tone, and it's gonna' have a sweeter smoother high end, much more of a "classic" type of sound. Ash/maple is gonna' be a lot more aggressive... it's gonna' have more going on in the mids, a bit more controlled low end, and a sharp attack in the low treble region... will sound a bit ganky solo'd at home, but just wonderful for a high end attack to give you a brighter tone in a thick mix.

I tried a few alder/rw PJ's in the past, including an insanely great NYC PJ5 with a quilted maple top on an alder body and a beautiful brazilian board. It was just too "polite" for my tastes... I love a lot of aggressive attack. I currently have the Metro PJ5 in ash/maple and am loving it to death. Joelc73 is the opposite. He loves the warmer and more classic sound of the alder/rw.

IMHO, this is where the magic lives. I've had other basses that take forever to eq to get it to sound decent once the band starts playing.

With my WL, just plug it in and turn up the volume.

I think I'd have to try really, really hard to make my bass sound bad.
