You re-fitted with single coils, right?

I know you'd have to have the NYC shop make the 60s position bass if you wanted it "stock." But, if I could find a good enough deal on a RS5 or even an MS5, it would be tempting to buy it and mod it for the soaps. (assuming the standards' HCs aren't wider)

Although, I think it would share a lot of character with this bass, which I already have:

Hmmmmm....

I've had Chi's in three basses now, and never liked any of them, but, they were all passive. That's not a control layout I've seen, what is that?

I know. Modding a Sadowsky would probably kill the re-sale value. But, if I could get one dialed in the way my NYC 24-5 is dialed in, have the tonal variety of the 60s PU positions, but still have the "signature" of the Sadowsky soaps, I don't think selling it would ever be an option I'd have to worry over.

The Lakland controls are:

LH-3 preamp.

Clockwise starting at the switch:

HB/SC selector -> pan -> passive tone control -> Volume w/ P/P act/passive switching -> treble -> mid (internal DIPS for freq cent) -> bass.


It is essentially a five string version of the bass Ed Friedland is discussing here:



I dig it so far. We could chat more about it, but probably not on the Sadowsky thread! :)

No need to mod for that, just order it that way.

Thanks Fran,

I filmed it with a cheap camera (as you can see :-) and recorded the sound with the D.I. out from my TecAmp Blackcat into apogee duet in Logic.
I imported the movie in logic and mixed the camera sound a tiny bit in the logic file to make it a little bit less clean.
I tried the bass with 2 gigs this week, wow, it cuts through in a nice way, even more than my 4string NYC.
