Thank you. I still think Roger makes first time buyers a killer bass so they will get the itch to come back. He probably does say..Make it sick, make is ridiculous" to lure us first timers back!
I like the way Roger also tries to accommodate the customers requests. Seeing the vintiquity finished basses, roasted necks and a nice collection of wood allows us to fulfill some dreams!
There was a real nice Black bass in vintiquity finish with a matching headstock and pearl blocks! Can't wait to see that one finished!

Seeing how much you struggle to make this bass to sound "just right", I got to say return it and get another model, IMHO.
It's a good point of view, on the other side, he's got a lot of compliments from fellow band members and even him loved the tone from the audience. Maybe he just needs time to get to know the instrument a little better.
Maybe so. But there is no question about how good the bass sounds, objectively. A quick look at the headstock tells you how good.
However, at end what counts is your personal feeling as a player. If you don't feel totally comfortable with how it sounds to your ears while you play you'll eventually part with it, sooner or later.

She's going back. Great bass, and one I ended up liking in some ways.
Just not as much as my A-Game basses.
The Sadowsky approval period has sold me on one I wasn't sure I would in the past, but, not this time.
It's kinda funny though; cause I do have P basses I like and use and they're all ash/maple, I figured I just had the woods wrong with the RV5PJ...
I've tried both the RV5PJ, and MV5PJ, and neither of those are 'my thing,' and quite frankly, that's very useful information. In one's quest for the Holy Grail of Tone-Land, it's just as important to know what doesn't work for you as it is to know what does...
The RV5JJ and MV5JJ: very much my thing, and staples in my tool box.
I expect I'll be a Sadowsky player for many years yet, and there's still some incarnations I haven't owned yet...

Another thing you should take into account is the fact that pickups on the 5 string PJs are made by Nordstrand meanwhile, 4 string PJ pickups are made by Dimarzio (both under Roger 's specs). Maybe your experience would be different with a 4 stringer.

Sounds like the right move. I usually know instantly whether it's a keeper or not. Sometimes my mind changes over a gig or two but not usually. The Sadowsky return policy is a really safe and easy way to see whether or not something works for you. I'm sure, if nothing else, it was a good learning experience.
Up next: Modern 24/5? Those are fun too. Totally different than your JJ's. Very cool basses though.

Thanks! I totally understand the round wound thing as well..the demo model in the shop has black label roundwounds and normally i am not a fan of those strings but man did that bass sound amazing!!
