I know this is a foregone conclusion at this point, but since I didn't see a clear answer to your question, it's "no". Strictly boost only. You want bass cut, you gotta' swap preamps for another brand.

The MV5PJ I've had on approval ships back today, so, if anyone has been jonesin' for a great natural ash/maple MV5PJ, it'll be back in the shop in a few days. Great bass, just not my thing.

The VTC provides treble cut. Why on earth would anyone want bass cut?
I was asking myself the same thing.
I wouldn't describe it in that way in the context of the conversation. We were talking about the preamp. The VTC is not part of the preamp, and honestly, I wouldn't consider it in the same terms as "EQ" in the sense of boost/cut, either. It's really a passive filter, and it does a lot more than just cut treble, which is why it actually makes sense to have one in addition to an active treble boost/cut control in the same instrument.
Anyway, IMHO/IME.

Yes, I don't know why, but intonation seems better on the Cocco's, which I really appreciate on chordal stuff.
