Vic - I have your "old" MV5-24 (M4179)...
Absolutely love it !!! Used it on an outdoor gig 9/11.... Cut through nicely ... Lots of compliments.

Nice! I used its replacement on 9/10 and the same thing happened. :)

Enjoy... not too many of those around and that's a great bass!

For my part, I am looking at downsizing from my current stable of 7 instruments; this due to upcoming lifestyle changes. I only intend to keep one black J Bass. So, need to decide between my RV4 and my '62 (black headstock).

This is actually a tough decision; which says Roger has done his work well. The RV4 has the preamp and produces a more brain dead fantastic tone. The '62 has been with me since '87, and you know how that goes. Decisions, decisions....:hmm:

I'd say this might be a special case for keeping both. Store/preserve the '62 as an heirloom or something and play the heck out of the Sadowsky. Sell off the other stuff. :)

Most definitely makes sense. Thing is, we are heading towards bouncing between residences somewhere a few years up the line. I don't want to drag so many instruments back and forth across the country, nor do I want to leave them untended for 6 months at a time.

Its cool. I started playing when one instrument was all I needed. Probably still the case; so, 4 should keep me more than satisfied. Thing I'll have to face up to is that really the Sadowsky is the practical instrument.

If you can afford keeping both, a double bag or even a custom double HSC wouldn't take much more space than a single bass.
On the other side, I understand you, I am down to one electric bass, my NYC UV PJ4. I was down to two, but after two years of not giving enough love to my NYC J4 I sold it. I'll buy a fretless PJ as soon as I have enough time to devote to it but at the moment, my DB takes most of my practice time; that's a real PITA to lug around!

A third option, that might help you to avoid regretting the sale of your '62 would be to sell all your basses and get that special NYC Sadowsky with all the bells and whistles, finish, specs that you ever dreamed of, something like one of these:

5519 always does it for me.... You can't imagine the amount of time I spent looking at it when it was put up on the website and I believe I even contacted Kevin about it but the timing was not right for me! :(

Oh yeah! 5519 is a slammer. Just needs the gold decal on the headstock to be perfect. Roger and Co really DID that one. Magnifique! Certainly a very good option....BTW, I also have developed a taste for vintage Shoreline Gold...

My problem is that the 7 axes in the stable are the accumulation of instruments that had total mojo over 30+ years. I just basically kept everything that had that yin yang going. So, there really aren't any dogs; just differences. I figure I can at most move 4 in two double gig bags. I've also got an upright; so, really that's way more than enough. Probably too much. Changes.

:eek: If you also own an upright things get pretty complicated.

Shoreline gold is also a very classy color. Some gratuitous porn :D:
