4) Hear the mid circuit = great, but nothing that I feel is what "I" would need beyond favouring the bridge pick-up slightly on my Standards and using the VTC and bass and treble boost's to compensate.

Props to those who love that circuit, but after spending some time with a WL, I actually found myself pretty much never using it.

The mid boost is adjustable, and the factory setting is WAY too high IMO.

I have mine dialed back to a VERY slight bump in the mids and overall volume.

I use it as my "afterburners" switch for extremely aggressive or hard rock songs. I'd say I use it only maybe 10% of the time, but it adds a nice extra kick when I do!

And that IS a sick trio. Nice!

At least in my case, to even be usable, I had it dialed back so far it was pretty much not doing anything I couldn't do by moving my right hand and/or panning a bit different with the pickups, so it just wasn't in the cards for me. Clearly YMMV on this circuit. :)

Edit: Just curious if you gave any thought to the bare maple (or slight oil) neck that is being offered now. I know it's a tough call if you don't have a nitro reference. Personally I would choose BARE maple w/ nitro headstock & heel now that I have that reference. The slight darkening of the maple grain is a thing of beauty to watch develope as well. SLIPPERY!

I didn't even know such a thing was on offer now. The only Sadowsky basses I've played have had the standard neck finish and felt just fine. I'd be afraid to take the leap on something I can't afford to replace, though.

I'm hoping to sneak in a drive down to NYC sometime in the New Year. I'll be very interested to try out a bass with that oiled finish on the neck.

I blame the one-month-old screaming in the other room.

My fear that you're going to get something spectacular still stands, though. I kinda like your stuff. In fact, put you, Vic and Munjibunga together, and I'll just give up on bass.

Well, my new Sadowsky (on the right) had me shipping off my original NYC (on the left) back to Sadowsky. You should see #4666 popping up on the pre-owned in stock page once it gets there and they give it a check, setup, etc.

It's a great bass, but I just love the smaller body and Will Lee neck profile on my two that I have now. You can hear some sound clips here if you are interested. "Louisiana", "Long Way Home" and "My Sin" are all #4666 through an Avalon U5 (strung with Sadowsky Blue Nickels). They are free downloads if you like them.

Well, look at it this way... you're probably a much better bassist for not jerking yourself around on all these different instruments all the time. You get big cool points for that in my book. :)

Forgot to ask you... when will you go through top selection? I can't wait to see what you pick out! :)

Did they say about when it might be done? My gosh that's gonna' be a f'n killer bass.

On a somewhat related note, I have the good fortune of sitting in for three gigs with a local horn band... plays everything from 60's tunes, to Chicago, Ides of March, etc. Took the MV5/24 out for a nice change from my straight up MV5. I just can't get over how strong these things are in a mix. I literally used no EQ on the bass or the amp, and it was killin'. Had all the cut, definition, and booty I needed. :)

Ok, so here's a few basses that have nice spalted tops in the Natural finish, most with accent lines, to kinda' whet yer appetite a bit. Sorry, just had to do this... :)
