Club Sadowsky!!!

In at #355. Here's my two babies. The Tiger's Eye P/J is maybe the sweetest bass I've ever had in my hands. Weighs 7.45 lbs. Sounds killer too. I had Roger swap out the soapbars in the 24 fret for Nordy Big Singles. Sounds like the 60s Jazz Bass from Hell! But with a sweet streak, if you want. It's the "heavy" one at 7.85 lbs. I'm seriously considering ordering an Original P, in Vintage or Oly White with a matching headstock. Not sure about the board, I seem to lean towards rosewood. If I go that route, it will have a Tort guard (what else is there?) and the single coil orig pickup.

Love that fretboard! Great lookin' basses. That P in your thoughts sounds like it would work. :D

Will's playing the Blue Note as part of the Invalid Link Removed. Sad that Michael is no longer with us, but there are some amazing players coming out that have joined the BBB over the years. (Mike Stern on guitar is what led me to find the show). Tonight, Saturday and Sunday. 8 and 10:30 shows each night. One might presume a Sadowsky or two would be in the mix...:)

 If you also own an upright things get pretty complicated.

Shoreline gold is also a very classy color. Some gratuitous porn :D:

I slightly prefer this color, but in a four stringer:

My Frost Gold 4 stringer will be up on the pre-owned page in about a week or so. Sadowsky got it back today.

On the right.

Hey all... doing my obligatory check-in on the Sadowsky thread I do every few months...

Tonight I accidently, in a fit of exhaustion, packed my LTD instead of my Sadowsky for a big gig... and while I like my LTD, what a disappointment! I obviously need more sleep... and more Sadowsky's!!!

That's easy to fix, sell all your other basses and you'll never make that mistake again. ;)

What are they strung with? How do you like your fretboard action w/a P-Bass neck? What are your fav tone sets w/the preamp? You'll be hearing from Fran real soon. :D
Welcome to the club bro.
B.

The sunburst one is strung with sadowsky blue nickels and the green one is currently strung with TI flats though I have had many different sets on that one, almost every gauge of labella flats, sadowsky flats, sadowsky nickels and steels.

I like the action generally pretty low, usually 3/32" - 5/64" or 5/64" - 2/32".

As far as tone settings, I usually use the sunburst with the preamp engaged and set flat or with a slight boost, and a little extra boost for slap. Sometimes I boost the bass a lot (around 50%) and roll back the VTC for a deep synthy kind of bass sound. For recordings sometimes I use passive when playing with a pick or when I want the bass to sound less up front or tucked away more in the mix, if that makes sense. These basses have different pickups but they also sound different unplugged, which is cool.
