The body is standard size. The Nordy P5 pickup is killer. Mine is alder/braz rw.

How would you compare this bass's tone to an MTD? I'm asking because I like the MTD sound (I've got three of them presently), especially the snap of the high end for slapping, but prefer a 34" scale. I also like the 2 octave neck of the Modern which provides plenty of room between the end of the fretboard and the "neck" pup.

Are you able to get a substantial bottom end from this bass as well as a good high-end for snapping the g-string while slapping? Trying to get a feel for what a Modern can do. The two octave neck, plenty of space between the neck pup and end of the fretboard, soapbars, and the renowned low weight are very appealing, but I'm still trying to get a good read on its tonal versatility.

Thanks Kevin & Rob. Can you guys post a link to a sample of those Blue Nickels on your rosewood boards for us. I notice that the Blue Stainless come stock on Sad's. Are the nickels a softer feel/tension as well as warmer tone? Not that I plan a switch - just curious about your reasons. All previous discussion seems to be relative to maple boards.

I havent spent enough time with MTD's to be able to give a comparison between the two. What I hear from this Sadowsky is a low warm bottom, punchy modern mids with a clear cutting high end.

SPEAKING of which - Here's a P pup sample that's a bit different for me. Sadowsky SBF45 flats, Solo P pup, VTC rolled full off & bass preamp treble boosted 75%. Nice & soft/edgy appropriate for this tune I think.

A bit of fun stuff...

We finally got around to getting our promo video scheduled and wrapped yesterday. Long day, but worth it. The video features my NYC JJ5/24. The clips we used were cut from the soundcloud clips I posted earlier. I recorded those with my beloved 4098, but it's in the shop getting a little TLC, so I used the other one in the clips. At least representin' the brand from the recordings anyway.

The video crew and lighting crew (two different companies) did an amazing job. Once we get the DVDs and have our release party, I'll see about getting an extraction of it to post on various popular sites that support video and let y'all know about it as well. Definitely a lot of bass face! If nothing else, good for laughs, right?

Anyway, here's some cell phone pics to kinda' give you an idea... it was shot in an historic theater, which we'll also credit. Amazing place. Supposedly haunted too, but if so, they stayed out of our way yesterday, with our thanks, I suppose.

Hey guys. I got a few PMs a looong time ago asking if I could show the top for my bass once it's been selected. Then I got busy, kept forgetting and went hunting. Then I remembered and asked Roger if I can post the image here. He said yes -- so long as I clearly mention the following:

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

You only get to see photos and choose a specific top if you're springing for the master grade. Roger and the crew just can't do it for all the tops, so don't ask. Unless, as I said, you're ordering a master-grade top.

So, with Roger's gracious permission:

The man's got exquisite taste when it comes to selecting wood.


...and I *may* be a little excited to see this axe finished. Just maybe.
