Thanks MF, I still say the pics don't even do it justice, i even told Kevin WOW, looks so much better in the flesh. One thing I love about this one over my NYC Standard is the neck on this one. This one has the Vintage tint and the neck is SATIN so its soooooo smooth moving around. I have been thinking of sanding the neck on my NYC Standard to get that smoothness. But i guess i will just let nature take its course. But my next SADOWSKY will for sure have the satin neck, I LOVE IT!

Ivan, it's easy to scuff the gloss of the neck on your other bass, without necessarily removing the finish.

You might want to use that blue masking tape to seal off the pickups so that you don't get bits of iron stuck to the pickups. I just used the wide stuff and sealed over the whole pickup cavity when I did my bass. And then used a shop vac to clean off all the pieces before I pulled off the tape.

"scotchbrite" pads coming in varying degrees of abrasive; I've used the very light grades of this effectively as well.
I still feel even the finest grade of this stuff is too aggressive, but I suppose if one was careful. IMHO.

Hi All,
Just checked few Sadowsky Metros in a local dealer and cant stop thinking about these cool instruments.I tried a 70's fiver and a 4 strings vintage (60's pups I think).I owned and played many basses modern and traditional ones,love them all but somehow I always go back to jazz basses.Recenty I use Fender 4 strings jazzes and want a fiver too.Never thought I'd be obsessed with Sadowskys until now.Unfortunately I didnt have too much time to test them but just few minutes were already enough to realize why many people fall for the sound of Sados.Body and neck construction,preamp,hardware ..everything is perfect.Playing it was like you grab a bass,immidiately feel comfortable with it,then start smiling when messing up with the preamp,then you want to kill an envy shop assistant who is taking sneaky circles around you in order to get the bass back with his greedy hands (obviously he is obsessed with them too...no wonder why).
Now I'm determined to buy a Sadowsky and started saving.Hopefuly next year I'll join to the club!!

I think I can answer this, actually... Roger's commented on this before.
It's not a satin vs gloss neck issue... it's just mainly that after some playing time, they all turn "glossy" unless you buff them back down to "satin". This is what 0000 steel wool is good for if you like that feel (I do).
Eventually, of course, you'll either wear or buff the finish off, but that's also by design, as Roger stated here and on his web site; "We put a thin finish on our necks with the intention that you could wear through it quickly. To me, nothing feels better than an old neck in which the finish has worn through."
Vintage tint is strictly/solely just that. A coloring. It's not about how "satiny" the surface is.
In that case it's probably the regular nitro. When you used the specific "satin" term, I thought you may have requested something that Roger had alluded to on the Sadowsky Web Forum awhile ago.

Had my NYC 4 fretless up for sale for a while. Decided yesterday to try a pair of Nordstrand NJ4 singles. Huge difference, for the better. Less scooped, more mid punch. Closed the FS thread.
I did try these pickups before with a fretted Morado NYC And a Maple Metro. The difference was subtle so I went back to HC for the noise issue. The fretless has Ebony board, maybe this is why. Anyone else with Ebony + singles?
