Here's an interesting one ... all the ways I've had basses fail over the years this is a new one to me.
All of a sudden, I get no signal. When I boost the EQ I hear a little hiss. Active/passive does nothing, blend, volume, nothing ... gotta be a short, so I opened it up and wiggled all the wires. No crackling, no intermittent signal. Its just completely silent.
The bass is an RS5 that I installed Duncan singles in, so the soldering job isn't quite as solid as stock
Any suggestions where to start? I could swap the pickups back to stock (to see if the pickups shorted internally), but that's a lot of work if somebody has an easier troubleshooting next step.
Love the duncans in the bass BTW -- super tasty.

If you have no output in active or passive, the place to look is
1) the output jack
2) the blend or volume pot
3) make sure no wires, other than grounds, are touching the shielding paint.

Thanks for the reply Roger!
I got out my soldering iron and disconnected the bridge pickup ground wire from the star ground point, and the bass sprang back to life. Then I reconnected it, and its still ok ... :/
Must have been something touching the shield. Strange.
