Club Sadowsky!!!

What he said!

Plus it just means you have more time to start working on your solo project. ;)

Sorry about your guitarist. Hang in there, this might well open the door to a better project! However, there is no such thing ad "no more music supplies required/necessary"!!! ; )

I understand why bands break up now. Not everyone is open to criticism nor will accept it even if it was requested.
We'd been working on a cover song for about 3 months and it just had too much over-the-top effects IMHO.

Yeah, I killed the relationship. :hmm:

Thanks for the kind words. Actually I've thought of just concentrating on training and improving rather than recording. Long overdue. :p

And....I had just finally got to the point where I have what I need in gear, etc.

Maybe, I need to spend $$ to cheer me up? People do that, right? :hiding:

Does anybody know if Roger would ever consider doing an NYC Will Lee 5 with 18mm spacing at the bridge and a slightly slimmer neck taper? I'd call the shop, but asking here seems easier..

I've asked Kevin before about doing a NYC vintage 5 with 1 3/4" nut and 18mm spacing and my recollection is that they would do that as a custom build. So I'm thinking you could get fairly close even if they won't do the specific Will Lee mods such as the midrange circuit. Didn't ask about a different neck taper, though.

Before you know it you will sought after by bands. I dont know if you can sing or not but learning to sing harmony will for sure make you a much more valuable Bass Player.

Its very difficult, Its like being in a relationship with 4 or 5 ppl. I am fortunate. The guitar player and I have played music together off and on for 25 yrs. No telling how many songs we know together. In fact he is the only guitar player in our area that can satisfy me. He went through problems @ home and took a year off a couple years ago and we went through 20 guitar players before we found one that would fit and he still didnt satisfy me. I was so glad when Dave came back. I asked him to please never do that to me again. Dont let this set back bother you. Just keep on keeping on and everything will fall in to place.

Yes. On NYC models:

4-strings:

20mm standard, 19mm option
12" standard, 9" option
1 1/2" or 1 3/4" nut width

5-strings:

19mm standard, 18mm option
12"
1 3/4 or 1 7/8" nut width

Custom neck shapes for an upcharge.

I can not speak for Roger but my thought is no. The WL is a signature model made to Will's specs.
I don't believe they will do custom specs to a signature model. However, you can custom order
Standard models. Again, call the shop, talk with Kevin. That is always your best bet, not here.

I have to say that i have not been on here much as of late, but i still LOVE both my SADOWSKY BASSES, I highly doubt the honeymoon will ever be over with these babies. Perhaps it could be that i have been taking lessons for a while and my playing has gotten tons better, or perhaps it is because i no longer chase sounds, the SADOWSKY bass truly ended my search. Loving my SADOWSKY basses all day every day. Thanks Roger for my beauties, now to save for a PJ.

..."working on a cover song for about 3 months..."

I'm working with a band that reminds me of this- why on earth would it take three months to play a cover tune? Just go to the original recording, transcribe yer part, and PLAY IT (not directed at you, Bluesy- directed at guitards and drummers who don't bother to do their homework).

I have to write to blow off some steam. While not a great musician, I'm DILIGENT. I work at it. My current band is pissing me the #$%^ off because they won't take the time to listen to the recordings and learn how to play stupidly easy yet totally enjoyable little rock ditties. Case in point: a tune like "Carol" off of the Stones' Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out (not to mention the other tunes they can't be bothered to do the research on...) The groove of the song makes it work, but they haven't bothered to learn it. Yet they want to play out...posers at this point.

The only answer I abide by is to constantly hone my craft- refine, refine, refine. Hope to be worthy of all my Sadowsky's can deliver.

You sure got my heart pumpin' at the mention of "Carol" by the Stones. One of the all time GREAT R&R songs. That's a Chuck Berry tune that sits at the top of my list along with his "You Never Can Tell". The Stones came out with Carol right when the Beatles were comin' on & is what I think of as a perfect example of a perfect groove.

Those guitards...!

:D

^ thanks for the YouTube link! I've just been watching old stones vids for the last hour made a great morning! wish I could get my band to attempt one or two of those old stones tunes I thing it would be really fun:bassist::bassist::bassist:

Not to totally derail the thread, but I'm about 2/3 of the way through Keith Richard's book. It is fantastic!

By the way,

Is it me or this headstock looks awesome? the nicer logo, the darker tint, the well worn look...How can I make my headstock looks as great as this without waiting for another 20 years of gigs.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Nicely aged. But as far as the decal goes, I like the plain black one the best. On a straight-up natural-finish headstock.

With black tuners.

Yeah, that rocks...

I've been doing Never Can Tell for a long time; thanks for reminding me of Carol!

On a different note, my M5-24 is acting crazy. I don't know if it's the heat or excessive humidity, but although the basic intonation is fine, almost every other note on the A string, is either crazy flat or crazy sharp. It's random as to which it will be, but some notes sound just plain bad. :eyebrow:

I'm betting it's a bum string.

+1

String issues can cause some REALLY crazy results!!

Time for the bass doc. String change didn't do a thing. Maybe a fret level would help?? It looks like the MV5 will be back in action for a stretch.....

Needless to say I've been playing my new bass and cant put it down.
Even though I've owned over 5 sadowsky's over the years, this one just blows me way.
The neck is just crazy good and has that smooth satin feel. Plus, the color is absolutley stunning.
Here are a few more pics. Ok, got to get back playing it!! :bassist:

That is the most beautiful bass I have EVER seen, from someone quite fond of purple. Congrats again, man!
