Yeah, and if it had Birds Eye Maple......oh my.:help: Blue is actually my favorite color.

The T-red NYC I just received (see my Avatar) - the color I chose is mainly because my deceased brother loved this shade of red and there is a lot of "Breck" in me. That's what happens when your older brother has to babysit you a lot! LOL!

I've been on holidays for 2 weeks and I came to find a lot of pages on this thread.

I also found some Sadowsky stuff on my email :hyper:...I'll post some pics soon :D

Now that I'm back home I'm going to keep working on the Club Sadowsky website...I hope I'll have a beta version soon.

A few months ago I contacted the guy I sold my single coil equiped Sadowsky Vintage 4 to ask him if he was interested in selling it back to me...he obviously didn't want to sell:atoz: so I asked Kevin if he had some solid ash bodies around. Among the photos that he sent me was a full size, 3 3/8 lb. solid ash beauty. I requested a "darker than usual" 'vintage tint' finish and what you see is the result...I LOVE it and I hope that someone at the shop is working hard on this thing so I can have it here ASAP. Rob, if you are the builder, I'll be screening TalkBass and I hope I don't find a single post with your name until you get the job done ;)

I have a quick question, since you are about the most 'in the know' guy on the Sadowsky's other than Roger!

There seems to be two distinct neck finishes on the Sadowsky's. One is very smooth and shiny (every Metro I've played had this finish, and quite a few NYC's, including my RV5). Then, there is an almost 'tung oil' type finish. It's totally flat (i.e., it doesn't have the somewhat glossy shine) and a touch 'oily' feeling (you can really feel the 'wood' through the finish). This is the finish I have on my new NYC MV5. My NV5 is also 'vintage tint'. I would have assumed vintage tint was just a coloring. However, is the vintage tint the reason that the finish not only looks but also feels so different.

I like them both, but they are quite different.

There is only one finish---dead flat nitro. When it is new, this is what you are thinking is the "oil finish". As your hand plays the neck, it naturally buffs it into a glossy finish. I have been finishing my necks this way for over 30 years. When it breaks in and turns glossy, it feels like a nice, broken in, vintage finish. It does not have that new sticky gloss finish feel.

Satin poly finishes will stay flat, but I do not like the way they feel compared to the nitro.
