Sounds like a good enough reason to road trip to the shop, or the Sam Ash in Manhattan that sells them (or is at least a dealer). It's what a 4hr drive? I think I'd giggle uncontrollably in their shop.

I love the neck, feel, and sound. I've made believers out of all but one of the other bassists in my command. I did the setup on this bass nearly two years ago, and haven't had to tweak anything.

Chef.. What is the weight of your Ash Maple Sad?
Im looking into another Sadowsky.. Maple/ Ash....
Dont know if the Metros are light enough for my liking though....
9.25 is about my limit on a 5 string...
Need to go look at Rog's site/
Ive been toying with teh idea of moving my NYC to get an Ash Maple possible metro... But i don't think he has the weights listed on there

I love the 24 fret version.. I sold my 1994 a few years ago...:bawl:
And mine was light... only paid $1995 for it brand new back then.. damn inflation

The "intrigue" of other builders is officially over. Tried just about all of them - and right back to Sadowsky I always went.

Don't get me wrong... some builders had some nice stuff. But some, I just didn't get what all the fuss was about :confused:

The bar was set by the best, and IMO nobody else reaches it.

The fit, finish, attention to detail, options, customer service... everything. My search is officially OVER.

Glad to see that your search is over. I followed your progress through several basses that I admit I'd love to own.

For me, I've always had a policy of not owning more than one bass by any given company. My Sadowsky has made me re0think that slightly; I now don't want to have my whole toolbox come from the same company. I do want another Sasdowsky, though my chances of ever making that happen are slim.

I've managed to trim my bass toolbox down to three basses over the past couple of years; I know that my Sad is here to stay, and I was initially surprised to say the same of my Fender American Standard P5. The Lakland Skyline will leave at some point, to make room for either a US Lakland or another Sadowsky, either of which will probably come from the TB classifieds.

but I can see the attraction for a one-maker toolbox.

For me - Sadowsky has the best build quality of any other mfr I tried. The finish, fretwork, neck, everything... just amazing.

Another thing for me is consistency. I like having the same exact neck on every bass I own. I hate changing from say... one ultra slim J neck to a more meaty neck like Sadowsky's. I have larger hands so Sadowsky gets the nod there as well. Just got sick of adjusting from bass to bass.

I like getting behind each bass and they all feel the same - but yield different tones due to the pickup/wood configurations. Really helps my technique a bit - the feel is always the same. :)
