Club Sadowsky!!!

Does anyone know if i could get one of those NEW style 5 String "headstock String retianers" to install on my NYC PJ5.. I didn't see them on the site.. I know they are not a retrofit. But I don't mind

I believe the shop is always fine on selling replacement parts to NYC Bass customers as long as the parts supply is stable on their end. I purchased bridge / Neck screw washers, etc in the past

I thought Roger said the break angle at the headstock was different, and they wouldn't work.
I could be wrong.

Beautiful bass dex, WOW! :bassist:

Thanks..

I call it the Hugh McDonald update.. Hugh was putting those hold downs on his Sadowskys for years..
The ones that he used were the old WIDE Fender style... He had them way back on his old Oly White PJ5 about 10 years ago im guessing
I know Roger updated that part to a custom Sadowsky size for his new basses.. .
So I know that the old Fender type will fit on a Sadowsky. Now im not sure if the new one will..

The only retainers I used on Hugh's basses were Hipshot, not Fender.

LOL.. I know!:D I'm all about functionality.
I love the function of the new string tree.
I loved the function of the wheel truss rod adjustment so much it was practically thee major selling point of my last PJ5.

WHAT??? Kirk concerned about aesthetics???? SAY IT AIN'T TRUE!!!! ;) :D

I just put in an order with Kevin for a Sadowsky S-style guitar. Any of you bounce between both bass and guitar? I've played both for years and finally decided I had to step up to a Sadowsky on the guitar side as well.

Besides bass, I play guitar as well. I want to try an S Style guitar. I drool over the guitars on the website after I check out the bases. Can't wait to see what you ordered!

This is an old story but since we have some new members and today is the 4th anniversary I thought it was worth reposting:

MY LITTLE STORY ABOUT HOW THEY CAME TO MY HANDS:
I had been playing Sadowsky basses for 5 years and I never asked Roger to build me a bass like this because I had never seen this combo on the In Stock page; I thought that since they usually use solid ash for natural finishes the resulting full size P would be too heavy for Roger's standards. My PJ only weighs 8.3 lbs!
It already has a lot of sentimental value (not only for being a fantastic instrument) but because I have a little story about how I won it on ebay: I placed a bid on it like ten days before the auction ended. Early in the morning of the last day of the auction my baby girl 'knocked on the door' and I had to run to the hospital with my wife so I couldn't track the end of the auction; I lost all hope of getting the bass and I had already assimilated that some Sadowsky sniper was already celebrating the 'shot'.
My beautiful Nora was born later that day and when I came home for a shower I checked my email and found out I had won the bass. The 10th of July was my lucky day for sure.

I ordered up a vintage pickguard style but not the full sized Ultra Vintage. I like the slimmed down body shapes more generally. Swamp Ash body in Vintage Teal Green Metallic, Master Grade Amazon fingerboard with Abalone face dots, and a H/S/S configuration with a covered humbucker in the bridge.

Can't wait! :bassist:
