Club Sadowsky!!!

My new Will Lee 5er has soaps and together with the mid-boost they really kill! Although I admit I was not quite sure when I placed my order as I absolutely love the Nordy Big Singles. Now, if Roger would offer Big Singles in the WL... I would have a serious itch to scratch ImageUploadedByTalkBass1374121900.348222.jpg

I do a lot of recording sessions and I need
a quiet bass with no hum. When I went to
the Sadowsky showroom to try several basses,
the soapbars had the least amount of hum
or no hum (in a J-Bass configuration.)

I'd have to concurr. I also love the tone the soaps have in my WL4.

(In a hard Boston accent) they're wicked clean :smug:

Roger, Kevin and the rest of the Sadowsky staff are the greatest in the biz, make you feel at home, when you visit the shop. You have another customer for life! Thanks again! I guess it's official I'm a member of the Sadowsky club. Can I a number please?View attachment 350519

Congrats young man, i also saw it on facebook and shared it on my page. Play that baby in great health, by the way that is one of my favorite colors.

I have a question re: metro vs nyc necks. If one was interested in a "simple" alder/rw or ash/maple bass then I understand that a metro would fit the bill. All things being equal, that would make sense but isn't the lack of the graphite reinforcing bars in the neck sort of a big deal? My "imported" Lakland 55-02 has it at half the cost of a metro so why wild the graphite bars not be standard on them? Is there any tonal differences? Looking at getting a RV5 metro - just thought I'd ask before I committed to it :)

Good question, and I don't have the answer, but can add a little to this topic. I have had two NYC's and still have a Metro. My MV5 metro has the most stable neck of any bass that I have ever owned. I have had it for about 2.5 years now and have made one truss rod adjustment. That is saying something as I live in Colorado, the driest place on earth. I am not saying the NYC's needed much adjusting either, but the metro has the best neck of any bass that I have owned. I have about 10 basses right now from Fenders to Mike Lull and they all need adjustments almost every season change here in CO. My MV5 is also the most played of any of my basses.

I can't comment on why or why not graphite rods, but I thought I'd throw that little tidbit out there. Good luck with your search.

Didn't mean to de-rail the thread :)

Just interested in the merits of graphite rods in the neck!

I do not use graphite for neck stability or stiffness. My necks were just as stable before I began using graphite. I use graphite so I can go to sleep at night knowing I am doing everything humanly possible to minimize dead spots, especially on the 4 string basses. With the graphite and the thicker headstock, I have accomplished that goal.

We have not had any dead spot issues on the Metros for that matter either.

Thank you. I think it's great that you respond to the "little guy" on forums like this. It's humbling.

I've had two Metros (still play one of them), a 4 and a 5; and both had zero dead spots or intonation issues.

Among the many Fenders over the years, only one had a killer dead spot; and for the life of me, I could not figure out what caused it. I think it was the Db on the G string. Voodoo. No doubt Roger is doing everything under his power to prevent that, and checks the basses before they go out the door. I would trust any Sadowsky they ship.

Maybe, some day some one will figure out what exactly causes that wolf spot. The one I had was profound.
