457 Bassman57 (Tom Caufield. 1957-2013)
We were not far from the #457 so I have assigned that number to him; I thought he might like that his club number has some resemblance with his nick. He sounded like the kind of guy you want to have in your life.
Just received this from Kevinlane. This is a well known instrument on TB - I am the 10th owner since 2005 when it appears to have been a Sadowsky loaner. It was build in 2002 - does anyone know anything about it in the years 2002 - 2005? It has an interesting biography 2005 to date.
This is my first NYC. I have had a number of Metros and currently have a MV5 JJ and a M5, both ash & maple. I have to say first impressions are that the narrow frets feel great, the neck appears slimmer front to back and the overall tone is more natural sounding.

Today I found out I lost a dear friend. His name was Tom Caufield, but some here knew him as Bassman57. Although he had been a TB member for many years, he only posted from time to time. He was the one that first turned me on to the Sadowsky magic. Tom was a very good bassist, but even a much greater human being. When he asked how you were, it wasn't just conversation. He really cared. When he said "call me if you need help", they weren't just words. He truly was offering his help. As I get older and my circle gets smaller, Tom will always remain there even though he is no longer around. Rest in piece my friend......

It means so much when having been touched by the integrity of someone that lives it. True friendship is a personal & treasured gift in this life we experience Gerry. Sorry for your loss bro.

Saw and heard The Black Crowes in Raleigh last night. It sure was noticeable when Sven switch from his Fender to his Sadowsky, but I'm preaching to the choir here. Sure hope to rejoin this choir someday...

Quick question: The VTC knob seems to not really do anything until it's rolled almost all the way off. Is this normal? Is it a very very gradual roll-off until you're almost all the way off, then it all of a sudden rolls the treble off quickly?

I just bought Crowes tickets to see them here in New Orleans in October. Was Raleigh one of the dates with Tedeschi Trucks Band, that is an awesome lineup for sure!
I understand what you mean. When you play through an amp
you don't hear the minute subtleties of the VTC. I use in-ear
monitors when I perform live, and you really can hear how much
the VTC affects the tone in headphones. I only wish Sadowsky
made incremental notch style knobs so I could remember my
settings......
That's normal the VTC Pot is not linear. And you should be Excited you have an awesome Bass.
