Club Sadowsky!!!

Howdy!
Blair: had two Sadowsky PJ before this I didn't like. I love this one, and use it often.
Leaf blower: I have one now. I got it when I power-washed the normal sand out of my brick patio, and replaced it with polymerized sand. Sweep it into the cracks, blow off the surplus, wet it down: no more weeding ever. Nice. I make up new things to do with the leaf blower all the time. I'm sure the neighbors find me at least 8% more annoying now.
Big Oak trees: yessir. Several. Lots of shade. Great, til fall. Then, it's a rather large mess to drag off. I've been mulching around junipers with them the last few years.

On a slightly related note (not much treble), it seemed to me that the volume on my 2010 P5 was behaving similarly to your VTC: not much effect when rolling up from zero, then wham, full volume. I normally keep this bass strung with flats and roll the VTC back, but when I set the bass flat (VTC up), I noticed some crackling when moving the volume pot. So okay, it's just dirty. Tonight I put a spritz of DeOxit on the pot, rolled it back and forth for a bit, and just like magic the pot works as good as new: nice even volume change from zero to full.

However your VTC is apparently working properly, so never mind. :)

Thanks for the good tip with the polymerized sand. I've never heard of that but I am sure going to try it.

Best use for a leaf blower: cleaning off your garage floor. Stand back and let the dust and crap fly out the door. You can't sweep this good with a broom. Gets all the concrete dust and everything.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

hmmm, actually, I don't really know if it is working properly to be honest. I strung it up with stainless steel strings for my first band rehearsal with the sadowsky today... I absolutely LOVE this bass. It sounds so amazing! Can't even describe it.

However, I'm convinced that for 80% of the rotation of the VTC, it does nothing, then it starts to roll off treble.

Truth is, I can probably live with this. It still does work, I can still roll off the treble just fine. Maybe I'll try to clean the pot.

WITH THAT SAID... I do hear a volume difference all the way from zero to 10 on the VTC. (which I know is a normal effect of a tone control). So perhaps it is working fine, and my ears just can't notice the difference until it's a drastic difference. I can definitely hear a continuous and steady volume increase as the VTC gets turned up (slight volume increase as is to be expected)

Normal? Not normal?

VTC I thought the VTC was a taper pot. What I am trying to say is physically moving/turning the pot 50% does not mean you have engaged the VTC 50%. In fact I can hardly hear any difference on my basses until I turn it 30 or 40 % and after 50% the pot starts to really roll off the highs. I feel like 70% of the pot is in the last 50% of travel. Not sure if this makes any sense to you guys. I understand myself but have a hard time explaining sometimes.

Makes perfect sense. I'd say, from what I can hear on my bass, 100% of the VTC treble roll off happens in the last 50% towards off. It was very scratchy when I got it. I just turned the knob over and over until it went away.

I think the last 20% does the most but I can hear it starting to kick in after 30 or 40 % of travel but it is very subtle while the last 20 to 30% of rotation is a drastic change. I hope this helps.

Ok, I'm sure that's exactly what mine is doing as well... Sounds like all is good.

I'm simply in love with this bass. Anyone else with a Morado board have tips on cleaning it? Do you bother cleaning it? Lemon oil based products? scrub w/tooth brush?

Well, depends on what you're trying to do. Lemon oil is a good cleaner, but NOT a good "conditioner". If you use lemon oil as a conditioner, often, it'll actually leech the wood's natural oils out over time, which is not good. A conditioner is what you want on a more regular basis to protect the wood's natural oils and help restore, but that doesn't mean lemon oil should never be used. Just means you have to use it properly for the right reason.

The Sadowsky preamp in my Lull has been draining the battery way faster than it should (battery will last approximately one month). This has been a problem since I had the preamp installed (I bought it from a fellow TBer, not from Sadowsky). I took it to my bass tech and he couldn't find anything wrong with the wiring. The only thing I can think of is that, because the circuit board will come unglued inside the cavity (allowing it to move around), the board is possibly touching something it shouldn't. I don't know. Has anyone else ever experienced this kind of thing?

The pre should have a stereo jack.
This allows the pre-amp to turn off when you unplug you bass.
I'll post up a picture of the jack later. Or if some one can before I do.

Hi, I have a Sadowsky pre, and this is the most active club so - hello.

I run a lakland passive 5 into it and I am really loving the tone. Just super modern. The pedal is adding some mojo that I cant pinpoint. For example, I can crank the treble on it and it still doesnt get hissy or too thin. It is really impressive stuff. I wonder if there is more detail on it somewhere in the archives here.
