The neck profile of the Sadowsky is also quite close to Ken Smith basses. If that helps.
I played two different F Basses on gigs a while back. I actually had them for a couple of weeks. They are very comfortable necks and, from what I remember, very similar to the Sadowsky necks.

Maybe in the "not chunky" area, but the spacing is tighter at the nut.
But I would agree, loosly, the profiles are pretty close.
I have had both and find the thickness and playability to be very similar but mr F seemed to have a touch moire of a V shape to it..
I would agree with this one. I have owned both (no F bass now) but would agree with that overall assesment.
In the end, you just have to go out and play both and see which you prefer. Or, if the differences/similarities are of no issue to you.
I owned two F Basses for a few years, and compared them directly to a Sadowsky MV5 neck profile. The F Bass Neck is most definitely sleeker, faster feeeling and less deep than the Sadowsky. The Sadowsky neck in comparison to the F Bass felt chunkier to my medium sized hands.
That said, the Sadowsky neck profile is absolutely fine, playable and has a wonderful finish. Just a different shape is all. I do not find the F Bass and Sadowsky neck profiles to be similar at all.

lots of responses, i'll just add...
... you can choose btwn the regular 1 7/8" vs. the 1 3/4" nut width, which from what i was told is similar to the nut widths on stingray 5 strings.
Thanks for all of the responses - I don't have an F Bass anymore (like you Mike, I have owned them all at one point!) but remember that neck. I have played a Lakland recently and really liked the profile so I think I will dig the Sadowsky neck.

You also need to keep in mind that both basses are hand made to an extent and there will be inconsistencies from bass to bass so no 2 are alike...

By far their nicest playing/feeling 5. If they put a J pick-up (not the dual side by side thing) in the bridge position, and keep it passive......grandslam for them on that bass.
I have some sound clips of it, but I need to rip them and post them up.
I'd be keeping it if it wasn't for my recient Sadowsky purchase.

I believe if you order a custom NYC, you can get any neck profile you want. If you can track down your old F Bass, have the dude take some measurements.
I'm pretty picky when it comes to five string necks, but I couldn't get used to the 35" scale of the Lakland but did like the string spacing and 1.8" nut. Also, something to consider is getting a 1.75" nut instead of a 1.875". It makes a huge difference to me.
At least I can wear a hat like that and be OK with laying down a wide azz country groove (if there is such a thing really)
Tommy Sims on Silver Lining is some of the grooviest bass playing in any genre...... I'm sure you lay down a fat country groove.
