Club Sadowsky!!!

I put a set of Sadowsky flats on this beauty and I have to say that I've found a new meaning for solid, warm tone...I love 'em. They simply kill!!! I cant' wait to try them on a gig.

My only problem now is that the slap tone (with rounds) on this bass is like :eek: and although this flats can be slapped it's not the same, neither is the bridge pickup mid-heavy fingerfunk tone (a different flavor that I also like). So I might need 'something' else.

How many of you folks think it'll take more then a month for Fran to order another one? How many think a week? :p

It'd need to be a full-size body and I'd probably need to sell my fretless, and this is something that I don't want to do.

I'm sure many of you guys where guessing how it was possible that I had my eyes on a bass that has a solid color...yeah, my therapy to heal my "vintage tint swamp ash addiction" was working...for a minute :D

I can see myself with something like this:

That's HOT!!

I have a new set of Sadowsky Flats on my home-made wannabe (non)Sadowsky. Let me tell you, they are BRIGHT! They are kind of a mix between Chromes and TI Flats. Medium tension, about the same as Chromes, and are very comfortable. They have a thick sound, not as much thud as LaBella flats, but they may get thuddier as they age.

I use the Sadowsky strings on all my basses! I prefer the Blue Nickels over anything else I have found and I have the Sadowsky Flats on my Joe Osborn fretless and love them. I use the flats on my Hybrid Metro P as well and they are the shiznit...best flats out there IMO!

I have Chromes on my NYC and due to the bass sounding so bright anyways, it sounds amazing for slap. A bit of treble boost and I am playing Red Hot Chili Peppers like a man possessed!


P.S. This bass looks amazing. The PG makes it look look so classy. Compared to my 1992 NYC, I prefer this one by far.:crying::D (mine is below...)

Thanks! According to a fellow bassist: "The best bass I have ever played. Period." And I have to agree :).

The set of Sadowsky flats I have on my bass ATM had been used on another bass for 2-3 months, so they are not as bright anymore (although brighter than others I've tried in the past). I love how the feel, the medium tension and the tone...oh! the tone! :hyper:

Yours is a sweet bass (great piece of ash). I, like you, prefer the classic pickguard/control plate look, but your bass has a lot of history that compensate greatly for the lack of some plastic and metal :smug:

+1 Sadowsky Blue Label Nickel and Sadowsky flats user here. I have tried a million brands over the years and these are my favs. One of the few strings that I've never tried and I'd like to try someday are the DR Low Rider nickels.

Off the shelf D'Addario XL nickles so far I found to be the best for me.
Plus, I can find them in just about any city I go to in case something happens where I either don't have a spare set with me or need more tahn two sets.

I tried the Sadowsky Nickles when they came out. really like them.
I just like the feeling of when I need strings, I can pick them up that afternoon.

I used XLs for many years and used to be a D'Addario endorser before I found Sadowsky and switched. If I were in a situation where I could not get any Sads I would not hesitate to stick a set of XL nickels on anything I was playing. I buy my Sadowskys 5 or 10 sets at a time and I keep a set in each case for each bass, 2 sets in my gig bag, and 2 or 3 sets in my rack drawer....Hopefully I will not be in a situation where I can't get my Sadowskys!

Hey Baird6869, I love your bass! I like the looks of the modern much better, however prefer having a pickgaurd for a shorter PG/strings distance. I know there's a solution but I also don't like the way half PG looks. Maybe vintage style with a clear guard is the way for me..:eyebrow:

Are the D'Addario's on a round or hex core? Wondering what the tension is like.

Really like the last two pics posted. Grain on the naked top is sick and really dig the vintage tint with the rw/tort looks a tad bit like my main player; but better!
