Recently picked up a lovely 4 banger Jazz from Sadowsky. The bass is great in all respects save one: The volume on the g-string seems to fall off the end of the earth on stage.

I've already angled the bridge pup (bridge, as I usually play just bridge pup) lowest under the E and tapered it highest under the G string. Didn't help. I'm adept at eq, and don't have this problem on my other 4 Sadowskys, and two Fenders equipped with Sadowsly electronics.

Has anyone had the issue and fixed it by replacing a pup?

Have you tried replacing the string? It could be a dud.
Also, do you have the same issue with the neck pickup?

If you have the hc pickups it might be worth trying something else. I'm not sure if it's the same on your 4 string but on my 5 the D string was very weak. Single coils gave me very even volume across all the strings.
