I think Brian told me 3450, which is about 1K less than it cost about 3 months ago. :) He also told me the guy put that cling protector sheeting on the entire back of the bass and on the clear pickguard under the G, so the bass is literally as new in condition.

If I had 3 large to drop on something right now, that bass would be gone.

Man Jim, you think with all that loot you have tied up in those Sadowsky's, you would have at least sprung for some cases or hell, even gig bags!!!!
Thats one hell of a way to store them.

And I would get them out of the garage too.
Just sayin'.....thats all.

Still gonna shoot mine- hopefully in a week or two. They owe me the favor, and now I have my own Sadowsky and don't have to borrow one for it!!!
It has to be done on a Tuesday, and they sent me out of town this week. So, maybe next!

Wait a sec :eyebrow:......the guy put a clear protector on the clear pickguard........which is there to protect the fini..............wait, so the clear pickguard wouldn't get...................but, doesn't the clear pickguard pro.............I mean, isn't the clear pickguard there for protec....................my head hurts now.:confused:

Yeah, apparently he didn't want to scuff the pickguard, so it'd always be nice and clear. He'd just change the protector every so often. It's cheaper and easier than replacing or repolishing the pickguard, I'd suppose. :)

I need to put this on the redundency desk of redundency.
It's like getting an gun to protect your attack dog that protects your alarm system on the pad-lock on the safe that holds you lock box which contains the key to a safe deposit box that has the password to unlock your computer so you can enter your screen name and log-on to TalkBass!!!

Forgive me for saying but at this point I loose contact. Even at $4500, at the end those are musical instruments, tools. We use (suppose to..) these tools to create music. They are meant to be used. I really find it hard to relate to such an over protective attitude.

Yeah, it's not so much the price really (I forgot how much they went up to be honest), but I guess if you're a collector then it would make a little sense.
It gets played very little and when it does, you don't want any issues.

But one would think that if you have the coin to drop on a Sadowsky, the last worry you would have would be over a $30 clear pick guard to replace every few years!

The back, I'd like to know where he got that "cling".
I may get one of those.
But one for the pickguard .....c'mon:rollno:

Ehhh, to some extent, but not completely. As particular as I am about my gear, I still wouldn't have done this myself, but it's not totally redundant IMHO. :)

The guard is to protect the wood and finish, and it's clear so you can see the beautiful wood underneath, so in this particular case, the guard is not about itself, but rather, what's under it. That sorta' changes things. The protector is just to help make sure "the glass stays clean". :) If it was an opaque guard, however, yeah, I'd be right there with you... completely silly.

IMHO it wouldn't be about the money... just the convenience. If you get sheets of that stuff or a roll of it, it literally takes seconds to peel it off and stick a new one on. That's tons easier (as well as cheaper) than swapping pickguards... no matter how infrequently.

Listen......don't defend the guy...after all he traded for a short scale fretless!!!!;)




I know where I can get the film. Any hardware store will have the stuff.
I just don't want to deal with cutting the shape of the body out.
