Don't know how much this applies to your build but I replaced my original pickup in my NYC P bass with an Aguilar 64 P pickup. Very happy with the darker/deeper tone.
Of course the thing with pickups is you can swap them in and out fairly easily....and drive yourself crazy while doing it!

^ You can change tone materially with different strings and sting height or pickup height adjustment too. Plus different pickups seem to react differently to different strings.

Taking it further by discussing pickup swaps on a bass that hasn't even been played by the potential owner is futile to put it very politely.

Agreed, I'm convinced that two basses made by the same maker with the same specs may be perfect with one set of pickups installed in one of the basses but not quite right in the other. It's a never ending quest if you allow it.

Well, been a busy few months and a busy next few to come as well (getting married, selling my house/moving)....anyway, in looking through stuff I came across TWO of the older form fitted large cases that the basses came with.
So, before I offer them up to the general TB public, I thought I would offer them here.
How does $120 each plus shipping.
Both are in great shape. No tears or stains.
Or will trade for high quality gig bag (s).
These will only fit the regular body basses and not the Ultra Vintage full size ones.
And will work with either 4 or 5 string.
I'll try to get a few pics up in the next few days.

Here is my new-to-me MV5. Pretty wonderful instrument. I'm having a great time playing this thing. I don't need a club number, just wanted to share my admiration for Roger's instruments.

I have to say that I'd rather see that bass without the pickguard and plate.Well isn't this nice.

Personally don't mind the plate, but the pick guard should definitely be left as an option to the eventual buyer.
No reason to have a pick guard on any new bass, pending buyer preference, if they're not required to cover up something.

I think a control plate by itself would look really weird like its just floating there. So they did well by choosing a clear guard to go with it to complete the look and still show off the top.
