Club Sadowsky!!!

I've been going between my Lull and my Sadowsky quite a bit lately and I have to say that one design feature of the Lull that I prefer over the Sadowsky is the location of the input jack. On the Lull it's conveniently placed further up the side of the body (towards the end pin) which allows for freer leg movement without fear of knocking the cable/connector. Not a deal-breaker detail but I'd love to see the Sadowsky jack placement move up a touch just the same.

Right-angle plugs!!

Over the course of a few years I replaced my straight/straight with straight/angle. Now that I've gone from rack rigs to amp-plus-pedals, I've acquired some angle/angle cables for pedals with top-mount jacks.



My cable conversion had nothing to do with Sadowsky; I prefer right-angle plugs on my basses regardless of jack placement. Caveat: I was at a local bass shop where someone couldn't get a right-angle plug to work with a Dingwall Afterburner. However none of my basses have that issue (the Dingwall jack was on a concave curve).

Beautiful bass, congrats! I just wanted to point out that Roger personally spends some time dialing in all of the instruments before they leave the shop.

That is awesome, thanks for the info! This is my first Sadowsky and didn't know if maybe just the NYC models got the extra attention. This MV5 played and sounded absolutely killer at my gig last night!

Roger's Shop Manager Lisa Hahn did excellent work on my Sadowsky Tokyo earlier this year.

Trevor Healy, former Sadowsky Production Manager, has set up shop in western Massachusetts. I have pain and weakness in my left wrist related to a recent break, and Trevor made this bass play effortlessly. Highly recommended. (Trevor still has a Sadowsky Precision that he built back in the day, Brazilian board and a cool preamp setup.)

It's hard foam with a fabric-ish covering. The label says, "USA CASE BESSEMER, MI" and has the old Broadway address for Sadowsky.

Roger's team has many talented alumni who have honed their skills at the shop (like Nino and Chris Swope). Lisa, the current shop manager, has been working there for 11 years and is one if the most all around talented luthiers I've ever met. While there is a team in place, Roger has always been deeply involved in overseeing the production process.

Had an amazing visit at the Sadowsky shop on Friday. Roger gave me the personal tour and met some of the nicest and talented folks there. Lisa showed me the new pickup for the Chip Single Cut bass. It is a dual pickup that will sit in the bridge position and a jazz in the neck position. The dual jazz will allow for either a 60's or 70's placement at a flick of a switch or combine the two. Amazing, and so is Lisa's passion in her job! If you haven't been to the shop yet...Go! You will have a blast. I learned a lot about the instruments and the work and attention to detail they put in every bass. Here are the pics. Enjoy!

Ok this one was just over the top. A Trans red WL4 with master grade flamed top and accent line, flamed fretboard with black pearl blocks and LED position dots. I couldn't put this thing down it played and sounded so good!!!

And of course all these basses sound incredible through this!

I was there for over 3 hours and played every bass in the showroom and a few guitars as well. Such a great day. Thanks to Roger and his crew for making me feel so welcomed! I'll be back for that Red WL, LOL

I agree. I saw it last week and it is amazing. It's similar to a candy apple red in that it has a silver or gold coat (I forget which) underneath.

@Joeykun ...guh, guh, drool, drool...I was just getting the jones to go back out to New York last night after looking through my college alumni magazine...you're not helping. If only I had the coin to call dibs on the 3rd from the back P/J 5 with matching headstock...

I don't think the person that built mine is there anymore? Sig on the plate is hard to make out...first couple letters look like 'DO' and it looks like there's a 'WJ'...think there was a Don there earlier this year...I dunno. Would be great to meet everyone all the same. And of course try out a few basses. Will probably have to wait until I can afford to drop cash on the spot though, I would hate to fall in love with one and have to walk away without it.

I posted that four string WL with black pearl blocks on the Detroit Bass Players page. That is stunning, I would love to make the pilgrimage to NYC to visit Rogers shop and t will happen someday. To be honest most of my vacations are spent a long way away from most big cities with a fly rod in hand. But when I get back on my feet I will do it. I have had the privilage of meeting Roger at NAMM, but I would love to see the shop.
