Wow, after scrolling through that list I just realized I didn't ask for a number, lol....

Has anyone ordered a replacement Metro pickguard? I know on the Sadowsky site they ask you to send in your old PG so they could match up a new one but is that really necessary? I want to switch to black from tort (blasphemy, I know) on my RV5 and was curious if I should just order one or go through the process of sending in my old one.

I believe the recommendation to send in your existing pickguard was for NYC basses. You can order a Metro pg from the web site.

From the Sadowsky Site -

"Metro pickguards WILL NOT fit Sadowsky NYC basses, or basses made by other manufacturers.

We cannot guarantee replacement pickguards will fit perfectly on your bass. Occasionally screw holes may need to be plugged and redrilled. We recommend you take the pickguard and your bass to a professional tech for installation. Or, you can send us your original pickguard and we will fit the replacement to match your original guard."

I was going to have a new one professionally installed anyway, but I just wasn't sure if it was necessary to send mine in.

You guys probably saw this already, but an email just went out with 15% off basses with P pups.

"We would like to offer our Stock Update subscribers an advance opportunity on this rare Sadowsky sale.
Listed below are the beautiful P and P-J basses we have in-stock at 15% off.

This sale will go public on Monday, August 1."

When a bass gets put together in the workshop, they don't just slap it together. Everything is a precision, custom fit. If the pickguard doesn't fit just right with the control plate, etc., it gets sanded and shaped so that it fits like a puzzle piece. If you want that same, custom fit, it makes sense to send it in. Seems like a pain, but it's a guarantee that it will work for your bass.

Wanted to give a shout out to Donovan at Fretspot (who I got the bass thru), he had Mr. Sadowsky himself dial in the final setup (plays like butter!) and even snap a pic for me before shipping the bass out to me.

Beautiful bass, congrats! I just wanted to point out that Roger personally spends some time dialing in all of the instruments before they leave the shop.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give a quick introduction. My name is JR and I have been on Talkbass since 2003 and have been following this thread for a while. Recently, I started working at Sadowsky in the workshop and have been helping them out with social media. Roger is on Talkbass quite a lot but gave me the go ahead to chime in if I can answer anyone's questions.

[edited] Just did my homework on posting if you work for a music company and as far as I can understand it, I'm not supposed to post photos unsolicited, so I just took down the photo of the burl singlecut. I'll post it on social sometime next week.

Would you kindly put up a picture of the burl singlecut you have? I love burl, and boy do the single its with that mid-boost tempt me mightily.

I'll be at the shop tomorrow morning. Looking forward to see everyone (and the showroom)!

Hey JR, what do the burl singlecuts look like? Do you have any photos you could share? :D
