It's funny, a guy came up during intermission at one of my gigs over the weekend to congratulate the pit. When I stood up to talk to him, he couldn't' take his eyes of my bass. He spent literally the next 5-10 minutes talking about it and staring at it; it got almost comical. It's pretty special that they sound even better than they look.

My other Sadowsky is Dakota Red, or whatever he calls it. Sounds great (it's a PJ like yours), but never gets complimented on the looks, just the sound. A producer I work with often says, "Bring your red bass." I know what he's talking about.

Thank goodness basses can't get jealous of each other.

I really do love the tone of the Sadowsky P/J's. It just sounds like "how bass should sound," to my ears, at least.

Yeah, it's not really a traditional P/J build, what with the ebony board and J-bass body. But I prefer both of those things, and I love them on my P/J 5. ;)

Not sure if this has been discussed before. I admire Sadowsky and what he has done with his Bass but I wonder what exactly is the difference between a Fender-like basses and Sadowsky basses.

I know from the first page of this thread and from the website that he does the neck (sanding, finishing, contouring), fretwork (dressing, sanding, crowning), circuitry (routing, shielding), body (wood choice, drilling chamber), pickup. Anything else? Just curious on the things he does to make a great bass.

Roger and his team treats all his customers and admirers like family and long time friends.
Yes they build awesome fenders! But you're also paying for top notch customer service and long time relationship between player and builder.
And wait til you actually play a Sadowsky in a full band mix!

The shop tour photos are awesome! The more I get to know my Metro I can just imagine what killer tones the NYC's have. I ordered a new PG from Peter yesterday, he had one in Tort left. If it doesn't fit (my bass is a 2006), he offered to cover return shipping and then do whatever trimming necessary to get the job done. Thats some service- just for a pickguard!

I also dropped the baby off for a fret dress, level, polish, etc.. she's gonna come back to me looking sharp and playing great. Now I just have to keep my wallet on lockdown every time I look at the NYC's... the 15% off sale doesn't help, lol
