Club Sadowsky!!!

So I got a new amp. It's a Darkglass M900. In the course of experimenting with amp and Sadowsky settings, I've found I really like the neck pickup soloed in passive mode, VTC down 20%, with some bump up in low-mids and hi-mids on the amp. It's a classic sound that suits my playstyle well. My MV4 is easily the most versatile bass I've ever had... so many great options.

The Sadowsky chrome knobs are classic, but Blackie is my hard rock bass so I got some gnarlier gnurled gnobs from Allparts:

This is definitely a different beast compared to my now-ex-MV5. Less thump, more attack and mids, way more sustain. Don't know how much of this difference could be attributed to the TI flats (now settled in), since the MV5 had Sadowsky Black Labels. Still, even with rounds it had a different vibe. Each instrument is unique in its own way, I guess.
I will do another video soon to directly compare it to my MV5 tone demo vid.

Hey Sadowsky brethren... I purchased a used M5-24 a few weeks ago.

Since the bass needed some fretwork and a setup, I dropped it off with a tech I use in Hollywood, CA. I also ordered a VTC kit as this 2006 Metro had the older preamp.

The tech was unsure which of the provided caps to use, but otherwise seemed confident that it was done. When I picked it up, I played it briefly through a small amp and it sounded OK.

However, when I got it home, I could tell that the install was not done correctly. The new controls work as expected and the bass sounds good when I've got the bridge pickup 100% soloed. But when I start to bring in the neck pickup, it makes a distorted farty sound -- and I know this is not an amp issue as I tested my Mesa D-800 & 115 + 112 with my 4-string and the stack sounds great.

Any Sadowsky folks have any idea what's going on?

Do any bassists who live in Los Angeles have a tech they trust to sort this out? The guy I was using has hung up his tools for awhile.

Give the shop a call and talk to Peter about it. He can probably rec someone.

Matter of fact...

I just checked in with Pat today. My Fendowsky mod should be done this week; and then The Cherry is going to him to get a matching headstock and HipShot USA Lollypop gears. I am liking this RV5-WL.
