Sorry, no. One of the ways we can keep the prices down on the Satins is to limit the line to the two models we currently offer.
I sold my RV5, which was a great sounding bass, to get my current modern. I just prefer the tightness and kind of compressed tone that you get from the modern series.
Although I will say it's a very different animal and takes a little time to adjust to learn how to EQ the bass and your amp to get it just the way you want it, but when you do there's some seriously great tone in there.

The satin series is very impressive. I’ve been emailing Peter about ordering a NYC 5 that will be my main player for studio work and playing worship music at church. The bass I had quoted will be just North of $8k so after I get it, then my next Sadowsky bass will be a satin series for playing shows or if I were to ever travel and tour again.
The Satins are awesome basses and definitely ooze NYC (I use mine for the same purposes you mentioned) Funny I also had a bass on order and a Satin showed up on the site that I couldn't resist. So glad I purchased it, a great alternative when you don't want to bring your irreplaceable basses to a gig.

That`s right, in the same way a Ken Smith and a Warwick Thumb have that characteristic sound, with the pickups located closer to the bridge.
Interesting that we are now talking about a $3000 Bass as a backup! That being said, I am deciding on what color 5-string Satin to order.
Still taking new members into the club? New-to-me Sadowsky purchased from another TBer, and my first while I wait for a NYC...

Could you tell me if those pickups are the Seymour Duncan's that are housed in the older casing that fits the EMG 40 dcs?
Or are they the ones in the bartolini P2 size casing?
Sorry, I haven't a clue! I can tell you that I bought the bass new in 2008 if that helps determine what they were using at the time.
My NYC is my back up, to a bass a local luthier built me that also has a sadowsky preamp.
The ones that are housed in the 40DC shape are wider and have a larger notch cut out where the screws go in. And the screw is pretty deep down. Like this:
Here's a picture of mine so it's clearer:
The newer ones are housed in a Bartolini P2 shape that is narrower and the notch is smaller and more shallow. So the screw head sits flush with the pickup. Like this:
If I was guessing, I would say the ones you have are the same as the EMG size.
From my understanding, they are supposed to be the same pickup, just with a different casing. However, they both sound very different to me. They are both good, just very different to my ears.
