Club Sadowsky!!!

One of the reasons I stick with Sadowsky most of the time is simply because of the neck feel, I love how broke in they are when the instrument is played after a while and the nitro really do something with it.. :)

and personally, i almost hate oil finish... so it is all about preference

Little aside, and not saying this is any sort of 'official policy' for Roger & Co:

Had some electronic issues with my PJ5, that became worse and worse months into owning the bass, and Roger and Co very graciously got my bass to the shop, fixed the issue, and then turned it around lickety-split.

Pretty sure he sprinkled more magic spices into the control cavity, because 'Big Daddy P' has more lowend set flat than any Skardooski I've owned (way too many now ... or not enough depending).

I live for those moments during soundcheck with a new group, when every musician/sound guy cocks their head:

Had an audition last week. For a “real” country band, i.e. old school. Brought my NYC UV P bass pictured in my avatar. Guitar players comment was “yeah those Sadisky’s are ok”. The thought crossed my mind to try out with my Fender P but it’s not what I’d be using if I end up joining them so I figured what the heck! Take it or leave it.

I have a collection of mispronunciations that I cherish. Recent one I liked: 'you bring that Polish P-Bass?'

It's interesting that the guitarists even noticed the brand name. If I were in your position I might have name-dropped Tully Kennedy or Michael Rhodes... if their comments actually seemed snarky, anyway. Or maybe not.

I mostly get "Oh... I thought that was a Fender". I usually just say "yeah, I wanted a 5-string Precision-style bass and chose this one". I have run into the occasional anti-elite attitude so I prefer to keep a low profile. I didn't buy a Sadowsky to impress anyone. :rollno: I just want to play a great bass.

Yep, the 'ol "Fender bias". The last country act I was part of was an upper-mid-level group that played lots of different venues and festivals, and for a long time my Sadowsky NYC 5 was my main bass for that gig (I've since sold it off as I'm raising money for my custom NYC build). Most of the ribbing about not playing a Fender was in jest from the band guys but every so often a venue's soundman would give me some grief for not playing a Fender P in a country group.

The last time it happened the local jokal sound guy was ranting about how I didn't need a pedalboard as a bassist and should get a better bass (as both my Sadowsky and my Mike Lull were out next to my board). After the show he came up to me and apologized profusely about his comments and raved about my sound (with the Sadowsky through my Noble preamp). Love converting the lost to what a Sadowsky sounds like! :thumbsup:

Yes, the prior owner, @kulit17 (a great tb'er and very nice guy) took delivery in April of 2013. When I acquired ownership of it week before last, it still had the protective plastic film above and below the pickups and on the back. I'm leaving it exactly as I found it.

Good when they see the light. Did a rehearsal at a friends house, playing some Larry Carlton type music. Playing through his acoustic 360 and my Sadowsky MV5-24..... “That bass sounds great....who makes it?” Another Sadowsky testimony served.

I know you weren't slapping, it's just that Tyler has been a consistent winner in the "worst headstock" threads I've read over the past decades. Not a knock against his basses, I know they're well regarded (Stubenhaus, etc)... I'll just say that I like Lisa's headstock a lot better.
