Club Sadowsky!!!

Awesome. Very similar look as mine. Love how striking these colors are while still looking clean and classic.

I'm just loving my new Satin 5! It's such a pleasure to play. So here's a few observations..

Compared to my older Metro with the Nordy SC's, these newer Duncans are slightly less raw and more refined. To my ears they are a little more compressed maybe? Less heavy bottom, and less harsh top end. Similar, but a slightly different flavor. Right up my alley, that's for sure! IMO it's more of what I would call the "Sadowsky" tone.

The neck... drool

I wasn't prepared for the neck. I remember a quote from Roger saying the Metro neck shape was slightly different. I would hate to use the "F" word in a Sadowsky thread (so I wont, lol) but to me the NYC neck feels like a custom shop "F" neck - but with a personal touch that has been developed over time to the response of a player, not the mighty dollar. It just feels like an extension of me. Effortless playability in spades.

What else can I say that hasn't been said by others? Great basses, great service. One happy camper!

My preference in neck shape was strongly influenced by all of the early 60's L Series Jazz basses I worked on in the 80's. They varied a lot too, but they were my inspiration.

This makes sense, I was just playing my Satin after messing with my 2017 Fender Jazz and was thinking “thank god this neck has some thickness to it”. The Sadowsky feels so much more natural in the hand to me.

Is that the same bass on the soundtrack? Sounds like a P bass with flats!

I'm a Sadowsky vintage P owner, it is indeed a stellar instrument in every way.

Will that P bass have the same materials, construction, attention to detail, weight, etc. than a Sadowsky P? Then maybe. Do you want your P to have the same quality than your Sadowsky J? Then get a Sadowsky P.

Always got people asking how a Sadowsky P sounds, they just sound like a good P bass!! This is a rough mix of a short section for a country rock track I did with my PJ5 lately. P solo on this track, bass goes straight to Jule Monique Tube Pre and to the board.

No. I didn’t play on the track. We (Keys and Drums) got hired to be sidemen for Kingfish for the 2 scenes. Got the call the gig day before we shot it.

Clearly in evidence on my bass, which has perhaps the finest Jazz Bass neck I have ever played.

Ah! No wonder I like the neck on my WL5 so much. Reminds me of the refinned, beat-to-death '62 in my closet...

I've had my Satin J-Bass for almost 6 months now. This thing is the best bass ever. It's built flawlessly and sounds awesome.

I love this bass! Once I added my preferred brand of strings she just came alive - not knocking the Sadowsky strings AT ALL, just not my personal flavor. My back just loves the lighter weight (I move around a lot onstage) - not that my 9-1/2 lb metro's were "heavy" - but this one just feels right. Another crappy cell phone glamour shot for you all.... I need to get a better shot of the fretboard. Its rather dark for Pau Ferro (my absolute favorite fretboard wood EVER) and has a nice light streak runnning down the middle. Just beautiful.

Beautiful bass! I put an order on for a lake placid blue one. By the way, the website says the fingerboard is Morado not Pau Ferró.
