Here are some NAMM pics. The Will Lee model with single coil p'ups and mid control was amazing, and Roger is a super nice guy. Wish I had one!

In the first shot the Will Lee is on the right. In the last shot the new J5 with 24 frets is on the left.

A few notes:

-Wow, the chambering in the body was the first thing I noticed, it really jumps out at you. I think it makes the bass sound much richer and fuller, (this is compared to my drummer's Metro.)
-The single coil pickups are awesome, jamming in my home studio I could hardly hear the hum when it wasn't 50/50 blended, my buddy on the drums couldn't hear it at all. They're VERY quiet compared to my '77 jazz and fender CS jazz.
-I was concerned about a vol/blend control layout, but so far the blend knob works great and is very convenient.
-It's the best jazz I've played, the bass is very mid strong on the bridge pickup, the pre sounds great, it can add sizzle or booty.
-The Sad Blue nickels are great strings.
-Word.

holy crap, incredible top!

i've always found sadowskies to just be more alive, and i'm sure the lighter weight of the chambering has much to do with it.

and i'm a huge fan of the vol/bld setup. easier to mute myself with one knob than two.

and yes, the shielding and interior work is barnone, which lends to quiet pickups.

and yea, blues rock.

Hey thanks Joker & Kobass, yeah she kills. I'm gonna see how she sounds with my drummer's aggie DB setup soon. I also just ordered an Evil Twin DI so I'll post some samples of my Sad through that and my mac crap soon as well. BTW, when I saw Kobass' 24-5 I knew that was the combo I wanted, so she's kind of just a rip off of your Sad...but a good rip off. Word.

Hey Mike, That would look killer. When I first rec'd this bass (that Jonno now owns), it came with a mint guard. The flame was too beautiful to fully cover like that. Rob @ Sadowsky did an incredible job cutting and installing the guard. You won't regret it, especially with that incredible quilt.

OMG!!!! GAS is setting in. That is one incredible bass, and right up my alley. Congrats on the fine choices you've made.

I just got notice that my company is cutting my hours back to 36 starting next week and going for minimum of 6 weeks. Ouch. The economy has finally hit my industry. I'm bummed....no guitars in the near future for me. I am lucky because other workers hours are cut to 32 and 34. My boss did say that the only way I would lose my job is if the company went down for good.
