Man, some of the "other" clubs are rapidly overtaking our post-count. It kinda makes us look like we're not happenin' anymore...

I did not see that topic here but if you are asking a question, sure...What is the harm about that? If you have anything to add to the discussion over on "Some of the other threads" feel free to do so. Poking your nose at it certainly does not add anything to this one...Of course that is just my opinion and I do still have the right to have one....I think. There...that is another useless post in an otherwise good thread about the virtues and love we all share for our Sadowskys.
I will take the opportunity to brag a bit...I have number 29 on the way...A Transparent Red Metro 24-5....Looking forward to it! I will add to your post count by at least 1 more when I add pics of it here when she comes in...
FWIW - I did not realize there was a "post count" race or feud or contest or wahtever you want to call it....I thought we were just talking about things we were interested in. SOME of us are interested in the various types of wood involved in the build process and were discussing there. It seems that some people have no idea what real Braziillian Rosewood is (Dalbergia Negra)...In fact based on what I have read MOST people do not know the difference in a multitude of woods. If you don't want to discuss them that is fine no one asked you to but I don't think it is fair to the people who do want to discuss it to be dissed like that...Yes I took it as a swing, a diss, whatever you want to call it....
Back to the SADOWSKY lovefest that is supposed to be going on here....As a serious questio to you how would you compare your 24-5 to your Sadowsky Jazz? I really want to to know!

I was just making light of some of the discussions here. No harm, no foul intended. Obviously, there is no post count or "feud." I don't feel as though I disrespected anyone. I guess we all don't share the same sense of humor!
In fact, I never mentioned any specific threads. Yes, I am subscribed to the other thread you referenced, as I'm sure a lot of Sadowsky enthusiasts are. It's all good. I've had the opportunity to play one of those basses-for an entire set on a gig actually, and yes, they are right up there with the best of the best (IMO/IME). We all have opinions, and that's what make TB interesting. I applaud you on your 29th Sadowsky! I am looking forward to pics, as always! I have number 4 on order (I spec'ed Brazilian rosewood, btw! I don't know the species/details, but Kevin told me it was the "best they offered", so I'm cool with that! ) At the rate I'm going, I may catch up to your "Sadowsky-count" within a few years. Heck, I may even order one of those "other" basses too! 
As far as my take on my M5-24 vs. my Standard 5. To my ears, they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. My Standard is mahogany/ebony, so it has a nice low-mid emphasis, with nice crisp highs. It sounds warm and organic, yet in a mix, it still sounds "like a Sadowsky." My M5-24 is ash/maple with the Nordie Big Singles. That bass cuts through a mix like a laser through cream cheese! Very punchy and very articulate. However, the slap tone stirkes me as being almost old-school vs. "hi-fi."

Sure wish the Sadowsky folks would post their own sound clips on their site of each type of wood, neck combo, 4-string, 5-string, Big Singles, Soaps, etc.
It's so hard to spec a potential bass or guitar of this caliber when you have absolutely nothing locally to get an idea of what sound you want.

Yep, Boston's is still here. Some good bands play there but the food sucks! You rarely see locals eating there, just visitors. I live about 10 minutes from there.

I agree! I have wondered with all the cats who do serious recording work why they can't post samples of each bass with each subset of options. Perhaps it is a clearance issue?? I think that would solve a lot of questions they get on a daily basis...

Cool..as I said sometimes I may take myself too seriously...I am sorry for that! Just trying to spread the information for all who want it...I get a LOT of PMs about the topic and it struck me as a good time to try and answer some of the questions I get in my mailbox....Again sorry if I offended some folks. It is forgotten as far as I am concerned. Thanks for the comparison I am hoping the 24-5 gives me a bit more modern sound than my jazzes...

I've had it for over ten years now, and have never needed to adjust the truss rod, not once. That means a lot to us frost bitten Canadian boys. As much as I love it though, I'd happily trade for fellow TB'r Jim Carr's P/J as seen on page #1.

Rosewood...LOL! I am assuming since it is Sadowsky Rosewood that it could be several things. Chief among them possibly Stump cut (Old growth new cut) Dalbergia even though it does not say Brazillian. It could also be Indian or possibly even Honduran. It has a very Reddish hue in the pic which usually means newly cut Honduran which is almost always a very rich red initially (because of the wet climate??) until it dries for about 6-12 months on the board itself. Sadowsky ususally says what kind of wood it is on a given bass but I am buying this one from a dealer and I can only go by what is posted on the website...here is a link:

Looks tasty, I will be very curious to see how it sounds. I have played a number of Maple boarded 24-5s but never a Rosewood boarded one...I am looking for ward to it.

Looks like a great bass, Tom! I believe the Metro fingerboards are either maple or morado. These basses KILL for fingerstyle playing. Looking forward to your take on it. Congrats, and all the best with it!

Kobass - I actually would prefer the Morado which would be brighter than even Stump cut Brazillian but still pretty warm sounding. I am hoping that you are right!
Rob - I have had a few Jazzes with Morado and they were all fabulous. They feel quite a bit harder than Brazillian but still have some of the warmth of the Brazillian. I would like to have the snap and attack of maple but the feel of the Brazillian....Morado should give me pretty close to that so I can only hope you are right...Either way I am really looking forward to it...

Yep, for sure. I think, all things being the same, its right between maple and your typical rosewood. Great tone from it on any of the Sadowsky's Ive owned. Cool axe

My NYC PJ5 has a very red RW board.. mine is Madagascar RW.. maybe that is what your is?
I like certain things about both so either would be OK. I think I have had several with Madagascar and remember them as a bit softer than Morado and not quite as snappy and percussive. The Morado is like the maple of rosewoods in my opinion. I like maple but I am hoping that this bass will be a good cross between Maple and Rosewood...I would love to get a warm, percussive, snappy, modern sound with some weight to it that slices through a busy mix like a laser beam without being too over the top or too overly bright sounding....
