Club Sadowsky!!!

In my book regarding tone: morado is in between ebony and Brazilian rosewood...

....but I think the difference is quite subtle amongst rosewoods. On my last Sadowsky instrument,
Roger asked me what kind of rosewood I wanted for the board. I told him I didn't care.

I would agree with that and add Morado is softer than ebony not as soft as Brazillian.

Peace,

T

+1 to those who say that morado is similar to maple more than other rosewoods. IME, a Sadowsky has a certain upper-mid grind when dug in hard fingerstyle that is especially cool for rock/aggressive funk, but IMO the sound of a Morado board when slapped has a 'gank' sound to it that I didn't care for. My Brazilian RW PJ5 has a smoother attack on aggressive pops, that combined with the awesome treble extension possible with the Sadowsky EQ, is more than able to cut through any dense mix. On top of that, to me this fretboard feels more responsive under the left hand and is much more pleasing to the ear when played fingerstyle.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't like an ash/maple Modern 5 though!!!

I'm not a great slapper at all ... but I'd agree with this.
I love my brazRw on my VJ4 and it sounds great slapped as well the 99% fingerstyle I play. My next bass will have a maple board though...

I will say that Morado is a very nice looking wood. My previous PJ4 had a gorgeous reddish color that was perfect for the Inca Silver finish. That bass was a chambered Alder and I would not get that body wood again at least with morado. (for my taste anyway) nothing wrong with that combo at all.

That flame top is awesome. Two of my favorites, 59'burst and flame maple. I prefer the flame over the quilt which is also tasty.
Mine too............:D

Nice Jonno. Only thing I would do different is put tort or b/w/b pickguard on the set up. I know it's a shame to cover the awesome figuring, but that's just my taste. Other than that, I would just get a Standard since a p/g is just for looks to me. Anyway your bass is freakin' gorgeous! Sorry for laying my opinion on you... :)

does anyone have a pic of a modern 5 w/ a quilt top in a '59 or tri color sunburst w/ a dark rosewood or ebony neck?

i found this on the site, and wanna find something similar:

and yea, GAS is getting me.

That's my bass, Joker. :D

Oh, was just at the booth at NAMM. The Will Lee sig is awesome. The Metro P/J is awesomer. The 24 fret Vintage J 5 string is awesomist. :hyper:

Yep, Boston's is still here. Some good bands play there but the food sucks! You rarely see locals eating there, just visitors. I live about 10 minutes from there.
WOW! Bostons on the Beach. Its been along time. I played there a couple times in the late 80's. I lived at Harbourside Yacht Club, right by Linton/fed hwy. I havent been there in 10 yrs. Cant say I miss it. New Orleans has been very good to me. except all the damn water back in 2005.
