I work in the financial industry and the prediction is that 2009 will be even worse than 2008... They say that for sure at least the first 6 months.

Yeah well, just got laid off yesterday, so yeah, 09 is getting off to a real good start here in Detroit!!!!
Gotta love the automotive industry!!!!!
I guess a LOT of practice time is ahead whilst I look for a new job!

As with the Dingwall club (of which I am a proud member albeit with "only" used and somewhat unglamorous specimens of Sheldon's work), I am humbled by the amazing Sads that are being posted here.
But I love my new Metro Hybrid P in sonic blue. It sounds and plays awesomely, even if it is not anywhere near as glam as the instruments being posted here.

Just had to touch back here to sat that after having this P for about three weeks, it is rapidly becoming my "go-to" bass. It has been said so many times but it can easily be said one more time: Sadowskys just simply cannot be beat for the way they sit in a mix.
Do I wish I had some of these gorgeous NYC beauties, YOU BET! But I couldn't be happier with my Metro hybrid P. BTW, I played out for the first time in about 30 years last Thursday, and I got nothing but compliments for the tone, the looks, and even my playing, which I am sure is just the Sad making me sound better than I am! And this was through a crappy little combo amp supplied for an open mic, too!

Cool, Bob. I get as many, if not more compliments on my Hybrid PJ than my 3 NYC's. Classic 3 tone burst, sounds fantastic. Very rock and roll on stage!! I love my hybrid. Im jealous of the sonic blue. Here is mine again

As much as I love my Dingwalls (and I do, believe me), for what I am doing now I am seriously thinking about selling them, grabbing up a Metro P/J 5 and calling it a day!

Here's my NYC 24-5. I also have a NYC Standard -5 (not pictured)..
I have a question about the 24-5.. It has the Sadowsky soap bar pickups in the modern position. I much prefer the sound of my Standard 5 with Sadowsky humcancelling J pups. I would like to get my 24-5 to sound more like the J bass, Is there a set of replacement pups that will fit my bass with the soap bar profile but more of the J bass sound?

In my opinion, your 24/5 will never sound like a jazz. The pickup placements prohibit it. Its a totally differant tonal vibe. I think its very cool you have one of each.

Great idea, Bob. My pj is super versatile. 2 basses in one, to my ears. Plus, I love the jazz neck. PJ5 sounds like the way to go

You are right. I am very lucky to have one of each. But you know how GAS is, there is always something else out there to be tempted by, like the PJ 5 !!
