Thanks and yes you called it! They had to turn down the house sub as I was rattling everyone's teeth. Massive is a quick and accurate description of the P in action Spent a great deal of time in passive and I was in bass heaven.

My 2cents on PJ5 and it is my lesson on learning how to adapt to this instrument. I'm always a JJ 5 strings guy for years, decided to have a P finally for recording and shows. Thought on keeping it "original" to a P look, so I ordered a Ultra Vintage P5.
I asked the shop do the swimming pool route so I can have traditional P or reversed P for experiment since I have no idea on how they exactly sound at all. Play the traditional position for 15mins and decided to go for reverse P immediately since the B is way too floppy sounding to my tastes compare with other 4 strings (not about the build/construction).
Played the P5 with reversed P for rest of the 6 months or so, but still found the Low B is not the thing I wanted to hear and still missing some sort of tight sounding compare with my other NYC JJ5. In arena show, the Low B just sound too bloomy (again not about the build I'm sure). Finally I ditch the traditional look idea and asked the shop install a J for me and bang! The bass sounds exactly what I wanna hear after the mod. My idea is simply want the extra J add some tightness to the low B and it works, I'm happy with other 4 strings from day 1, they sound like a P no doubt. But the extra J just add more clarity to the B that I used to hear and seriously in the real world, no one really care about your B sounding is from a J or P, as long as they sound tight and defined, you're all good. (it's truth)
So it is how the bass looks for now (will change pickguard and hardwares pretty soon)
so I just order another P4 to keep it more original looking but for a 5.. I will definitely go for a PJ5 and the bass is now another main recording bass for me, I can't be more happier.

I totally understand the PJ mod. Did it on many fours, and especially loved the extra growl on the E and A strings. That said, my Sadowsky UV P5s remain P-only: to me they are growly enough as is, B strings included... I consider them "killer Bs" (though they don't buzz 
). Not as growly as PJ, obviously, but I prefer the P tone.

the original owner of my PJ4, which was born as a UV P, also sent it back to the shop and had the J added. My pickup balance is always somewhere between center detent and full on P and I love the tonal palette that this gives me. It's kind of like a filter that gives me the right eq for the song and the room.
I haven't seen curves like, since Nolan Ryan pitched for the Rangers...
I knew it! The new Satin is 7.5 lbs. Thought I would dive back into the 4 string world for a number of reasons. Played last night and absolutely loved it! Transitioned to the 4 (after much worry) with no issues at all. Made me change a few lines and had me on my toes for a couple of spots (forgot how much I did use the low B).
I picked up my 5 string Metro J this morning to see if I could flip back to the 5 with ease and my first, 2nd and third thought was "Wow, this thing is heavy!!" Too funny as its only 9lbs on the nose. So warning to all if you want to move from a Metro to NYC...

A little snippet from last night. Early in the set so I was having fun dialing in what I was looking for sound wise. Basic song that most of us use to win over the crowd as its a fan favorite.

Sounds good. Tom Petty always goes over great. We played a show tonight and started out with "American Girl" as the first song. Went over well, and a fun song too.
Yep, my same dilemma... my Metro is the most beautiful bass ever (Trans Blue and maple), but since I got my Satin (7.6 lbs), I play the Satin only. That pound and a half makes a big difference. In my case, I have had back problems in the past. I know I've posted it here before but will once again, that Satin J-bass saved my playing career by alleviating the back problems. If there's anybody out there suffering back issues, bass weight can make a huge difference. I love everything else about the Satin too.... I should probably sell all my other basses and get a second Satin. Probably next year. Either a Verdine model or a Modern.
But yeah, the weight difference is pretty stunning, isn't it? In a good way.
I also added a Sadowsky Neo strap. Its a bit sleeker and also a tad wider than my mono betty strap and sits really nicely on my shoulder. 2nd gig completed last night and feeling much more refreshed!
The weight is a huge difference! I feel like I could stand and play all night. I would love to add a Satin J bass or if somehow come up with the coin for a NYC.
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a Metro Express 5er. I'd like to get another Satin but for the extra $1k.

I am sure not, just because not many options on the ME line. But it's an easy swap if you know how to solder, or even easier to your local favorite luthier/tech.
I don't think they offer single coils as a standard choice but you might be able to have them swapped if getting the bass from stock at the NYC shop. If not you can purchase pickups separately. I would contact the shop and ask.
You can upgrade to single coils for $100 for 4 string and $150 for 5 string.
